Default Out of the mouths of babes...

Kids just say what's on their mind, much to the consternation of adults.

My husband's sister was dating a guy for a couple of months. I guess the family was starting to wonder and talk about his intentions. Her 7-year old nephew, at a family gathering, blurted out to the boyfriend, "Are you going to marry my aunt or what?".

He did, and they've been married about 25 years now.

When my brother was a young boy, he was with my mother in the grocery store checkout line, when he pointed to her face and told her that she had a moustache. My mother used to get it waxed, and I guess was due.

Any stories about kids saying the darnest things?

My son was about 5 at the time. We had been talking about my mother-in-law. Well, my husband made the comment that his mom could watch him. Then I said "She will probably say she is too old"

Well, my husband and son went over there and soon I got a call from my husband on his cell phone. He was laughing hysterically. I asked him what happened and he said that his mom said she would be glad to watch him. To which Chris piped up "My mom says that you are too old!!"

I just about died of embarassment!! LOL!!

Kids will point out zits, tell someone they're fat, and, as BlueMoonFan just pointed out, repeat what adults say.

BMF, funny story.

A few years ago at Thanksgiving, my dad and older sister were in the other room watching the traditional Aggies vs tsips game. The 'sips did something good and my sister said "Son of a" my father said the entire phrase. About 5 minutes later my little 3 year old nephew stubbed his toe and the first thing out of his mouth was "Son of a *****" My oldest sister asked him where he heard that and he just looked at her and said Pawpaw (my dad) I was laughing uncontrolably. It was great!

Some friends of mine took their 3 year old son to a very important dinner with some friends. The waiter brought out some soup before the meal. The little boy put a spoonful in his mouth and yelled out, "What the hewll is dis?"

when my brother was about seven, he asked my mom if she would ever marry anyone else (actually he sort of jokingly asked if she would ever marry some kind of food that she liked but that's beside the point), and she said no because she was already married to our dad, and he said, in exact words, "well what if daddy got shot?" god even to this day i can't think about it without laughing myself damn silly.

and there was another time when i was eight, i was talking to my mom and i told her that i wish we had some "god damn stairs" and she gasped and said "where did you learn that from?" and i just said all confused "is that a bad word?" haaaaa haaaaa.

I have a story, and I was that little babe. My dad told me this story five years ago, and I laughed til I had tears streaming down my face.

It was around the summer of 1988. I already knew how to use sign language at this point (equivalent to knowing how to talk). A friend of my mom's was visiting from out of state and this friend was, uh, pretty endowed up top. My parents and that friend were in the living room, visiting and just minding their own business.

According to my dad, I ran into the living room and saw my mom's friend sitting on the couch. I took a real good look at her friend, turned to my parents and said, "She has really big boobs!" in sign language. My parents both stared at me with horrified looks on their faces.

My mom's friend saw me signing, turned to my parents and asked, "What did she say?"

My mom turned to her friend and said, "Oh, Allison wanted me to tell you that she loves your hair."

ROFL! Thank God you didn't actually say that out loud. And good cover by your mom, too. hehe.

I don't know, SOME of my family has mouths like sailors, including my older cousin. A few Christmases ago when her son was maybe 4 or 5...I guess she carried his stuff in a backpack. Well, aparently she forgot it and he must of heard her say "Ugh, I forgot the ****ing backpack" So, he repeated it later and everyone burst out laughing...because it was so unexpected. And so, since he got attention out of it, he would NOT stop saying it. Over and over to the kids in the family. We were dying ha.

oh god i have many stories to share

when i was about 6, i was at my dad's family reunion. he has this cousin, Ann Marie, who is about 40 now. but she was very, very overweight, and without knowing any better i said "excuse me, are you pregnant?" and my mom immediately grabbed me and dragged me away from her she didn't take any offense though.

this next story happened when i was about 9. my mom, me, and her friend went to this outdoor pool at a hotel, and i also asked my mom's friend "are you pregnant?", because her stomach was fat and i really thought she was she isn't my mom's friend now, but my mom still says it was rude of me to say.

the other story involves her as well. it was at my school on a field trip (in 5th grade), both her and my mom were chaperones. my friend Emily said to me "look, your mom and grandmother are right over there", because she thought my mom's friend was my grandmother she looks nothing like my mom, so i don't know how she would say that. my mom was about 40 (and she looks young for her age), and her friend was about 50 (and looks old for her age). and i ran over and said to her "my friend thought you were my grandmother, isn't that wild? you and my mom look nothing alike!" and my mom yelled at me for it afterwards.

i really said some damaging, hurtful things without meaning to, didn't i?

My three year old niece (my sister's baby) is three, and has reached that "parrot" stage where she will repeat any word that you say.
Over the Mother's day weekend during my visit to my sister's house, the family went over to see the new condo that my parents have just purchased nearby and are moving into at the end of the summer.
The interior of the house consists of only wood framing, no walls, etc.
We're walking around trying to get an idea of the layout, when my Brother in law and I found ourselves wandering around the master bath, which will feature a little seperate room for the toilet.
My Brother in law asks if that little room near the double sink is where the "crapper" is going to be.
My family being the classy folks that they were, immediatly started referring to that part of the bathroom as the crapper.
Of course, my niece was nearby, and marched directly to the spot and proclaimed "I'm in the crapper!"

Great kid.
