Question Don't you hate it when....

You recommend something to someone that you think they might like, like a song, or a movie, and they tell you they'll watch/listen to it, but they never do?? I hate that!!! I mean, I'm guilty of this too. In the past, Iv'e had people recommend movies and stuff to me that they wanted me to watch, which I never did, but now I really do try to atleast try to watch, or listen to other people's recommendations, because I know how crappy it feels when you recommend something to them, and they don't watch it. The thing I hate the most is when you know your recommendation is something they'd probably love, but they still won't get around to watching it. It's like you want to just tie them down to a chair, and force them or something. LOL!! Does anyone else ever feel this way, or is it just me??

hmmmmm........well, its their free choice, what bugs me is when someone begs to borrow something like a book or DVd that you recommended to them, and 6 months later you ask for it back, and they say "Oh i havent gotten around to watching/reading that yet!"

try reverse psychologizing them; for example, don't say, "oh, i think you'll like this movie", instead say, "oh, you wont like this movie, it'd be WAY over your head, you'd never get it"

or just slip the DVD into their player then Krazy glue the door shut.

YES! I definitely hate that. Actually, I made a Three's Company tape for someone not too long ago. I put what I thought were the best episodes on tape, sent it out (paid for postage and everything), and got no response from her on how she liked it. It makes me think that she just never watched it, or maybe she did and didn't like it (and didn't want to tell me that). Still, I'd rather have a negative review than no review at all. It bugs me.

That bothers me sometimes too. I'll usually watch a movie that someone recommends, if it's my type of movie in the first place. I'm not one for Westerns, raw violence or most foreign films, so I'll tell the person that. Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions.

Not only for movies, but if someone tells me about a great product, food, etc, I'll buy it. Things don't go through one ear and out the other with me, when it comes to recommendations.

I sent someone a CD last year. It's one of my favorites, and the person obviously didn't care for it, so just made a quick comment that it was nice. Whatever...a polite lie never hurt anyone, lol. I ordered the stupid thing off Amazon. Tell me you love it.

Oh yes, Iv'e had that happen to me a couple times. It makes you feel so stupid because it's like, I just went out and spent $24.99 on this gift for you, and you've said nothing about it. I would actually prefer to hear that the person didn't like it, than for them to not respond at all. That's just plain rude. Fortunately though, I have many friends who are thankful when I do something for them, so I mainly just try to focus on those people.

Btw, there's a movie Iv'e been trying to get my brother to watch for over a year now. that was actually the main inspiration for this thread in all honesty. Well, I spent the night at his place last night, and this morning I finally got him to sit down and watch it, and just like I thought, he ended up loving it!!!

It's a pretty obscure movie that most people probably haven't even heard of called: "My Flesh and Blood". Iv'e basically been trying to get everyone I know to watch it, because it's a really wonderful movie with a great message, and it's actually airing on HBO On Demand, under documentaries right now.

Btw, I love your new username Jack!! Cactus Jack/Mick Foley is my all time favorite wrestler. Infact, I was just wearing my Cactus Jack tshirt yesterday. Too bad you don't have one. If you did, you could wear it, and put it up as your avatar. That would be cool!!
