Is running a sport? If not I don't do sports.

My friend tried to get me into basketball and football but I'm just not into sports.

At my school, it's required from seventh grade on up to be on a team sport from September-May. I was on a volleyball team (7A), badminton (7A), and winter we didn't have any since of so much snow. I love volleyball and softball.

Max,
I believe running is classified as a sport. (it's more of a sport than golf and bowling)

Do you sing country music and run at the same time?

I played softball since I was 8 and all through high school. Also played basketball in high school and ran cross-country my last two years of high school so I could get in shape for basketball. In college I started rowing and I have one year left.

It's hard for me to choose a favorite sport. The teammates on cross-country were wonderful, but I'm a horribly slow runner. Basketball was awesome because you could knock people down. Softball will always hold a special place because of how long I played it and I still love the sport. Crew on the other hand is such an awesome sport. You won't find anything that will exhaust you more, but coming down to the wire in a 2000m race going stroke for stroke against a boat in the next lane is exhilirating. Then if your me after the race you grab onto the sides of the boat, hack up both your lungs, and hope this isn't the time you throw up! And I still love the sport!!

Exclamation

I play softball, basketball, soccer, football, and I'm trying to get into running, but my endurance is really weak.

My favorite by far is softball, because I have played since I was 4.
Basketball is second, but I've torn up my knee and ripped my quad muscle playing softball, so I don't think I'll be playing basketball this year. Have yet to break it to the coach...
Soccer is pretty cool, but my endurance stinks at running for long periods of time so...
Football rocks! I LOVE tackling people.
I'm trying to get into running to prepare for softball because I want to step my playing level up a bit so I could perhaps get a college scholarship someday...

To all you runners, how did you get started running? Any advice appreciated!

ks- The best running advice I could give you is to build up. Some like to build up by running 3 minutes, walking a minute and increasing the running time and decreasing the walking time doing it over a 30 minute or so time period. For me, I have to run continuously and add the time. Remember, your body can do more then your mind tells you to do.
