I accidently deleted some very important video files and would like to get them back. Anybody know how I can recover them again? I tried doing System Restore but it did not get them back.

I can recommend BadCopy Pro. It's mainly for a storage device, but maybe it will also allow the option to recover from your hard drive. We have it at work, and it works great! It's free to try. |

Still don't have it. I guess this is why they say to back up your files.

FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - do not install, defragment, uninstall, change or do anything that will otherwise change the contents of your hard drive. When Windows "deletes" a file, all it does is remove the file header information so the files should still be there until they are overwritten by new information.
there are many programs you can use to recover these files, I prefer Norton's Unerase, but it is not free, you could try the freeware FREEUNDELETE http://officerecovery.com/freeundelete/ or PC INSPECTOR™ File Recovery http://www.pcinspector.de/file_recovery/UK/welcome.htm there are other free utilities out there, or trial versions, but a lot of them wont recover LARGE files without actually buying the FULL version (and these are video files we are talking about here) if you are FORCED to buy something, try Filesaver http://www.file-saver.com/undelete/default.aspx - its only $14.97 and I have actually used it and can confirm that it is well worth it. |
