I saw it yesterday as well...I thought it was VERY well done, and well casted. I'm not much for the romance genre part of it, but it was a good story, and I didn't really ever get bored. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 7, cause the bombing scenes got a little long.

Ben Affleck doesn't really do it for me, so the movie itself suffered just because of him. And that last mission was pointless! The wrong guy died!

But I guess the movie overall was okay...

I am happy to report that Ben Affleck is not catching nearly as many flies in this movie as he usually does. Somebody finally convinced that boy to shut his mouth when he's not talking. Now if he could only learn to smile using his whole mouth....

This movie has so many issues with it, I'm not even going to get into it. Poor writing, poor cinematography, poor flow, anti-climatic, and not incredibly accurate. At least it wasn't out and out inaccurate.

Addmittedly, I haven't seen it yet. Although I have heard it was pretty sadly inaccurate.

Of course many movies are. For example, most sci-fi movies have the sound of explosions in space, even though it is not possible to have sound in space.

However, I personally think that movies that depict historical events should strive to be as accurate as possible, since many people will take the movie as truth.

Just my 2 cents on the issue.

I want to see it, but will wait until it goes from the first-run theater in town to the second-run one across town where I used to work and my sister currently works at. That way I get in free and don't get mad when I have to pay for it!!

I haven't seen a good review to this movie (main reason I haven't seen it yet), but as a history major I would probably sit in there and pick it apart. When I go to a movie portraying a historical event, I want it to delve into why this side did this and why the other side did that. I don't think from what I read Pearl Harbor did that and fictional characters in a real event like this don't do it either.

Leslie, I took my father-in-law, who is a history professor to see this movie. He told me that he found it more accurate than other movies, as far as weapons and combat techniques went. He said that alot of the events in the movie may or may not have happened that way - they are interpreted differently by different historians (i.e., how much did Washington know prior to the attack), but all in all, not horribly inaccurate until they started talking about the Doolittle bombing. I slept through history in high school, and I knew what they were portraying here was crap.

Save your money. And if you do go to see it, don't go expecting to see an accurate depiction of factual events. Go expecting to see a love story with a factual event thrown in here and there to add tension to the romance. Yes, it sucked that bad.

Well said. I've given up that Ben Affleck will ever appear in anything decent.

lol.... at first when I saw all these "Ben Affleck is so hot, I am obsessed with this movie!!!" posts, I thought they were new... as opposed to four years old. I was wondering "why is that guy waiting for it to come out on video? IT'S BEEN OUT!!!", and then I saw the date, lol

I remember seeing on a message board somewhere else, that someone was called "unpatriotic" for saying this movie was a turd. I never knew that having decent taste in movies made you a traitor, lol. I think PH could've been a good movie had they made a film that stuck to the facts, but instead they decided to make it a Titanic style story.

I hope I don't live to see the day that they make a romantic tragedy involving Sept. 11 ala Pearl Harbor/Titanic. I bet people who were alive when PH happened felt sick to their stomach that Michael Bay cashed in on the tragedy to make a Ben Affleck love story.
