Default Any updates from today's episode (5/17)

Sorry that I can't be too detailed, perhaps the Episode Post will update with specifics, but I've already deleted the episode and I was wondering if there were any updates from the cases shown today. Let's see what I can remember...

The last one was about a fraud involving a medical warehouse. This guy invested like $54,000 into it and then found out it was a scam. The ringleader was a guy who spoke with what the police thought was somewhat of a Spanish accent, and that the name he went by was probably an alias.

Other ones include a guy looking for his family. He was apparently a black-market child sold by Bessie Bernard so he had trouble finding any true information. He was born in 1939, best he could tell.

Another one involved two Swedish hitchhikers who were found murdered and a tip eight years later led to the search of a house of a suspect. They were from Sweden and were headed to LA for their trip back when their backpacks and such were found in a dumpster in the nearby city of Commerce. His name was...maybe "Laurence" or something? The anonymous tipster has since not said anything.

Yet another one involved a missing persons case turned murder in Overland Park, KS. The year was 1974. It was a guy who owned a chain of gas stations. He liked horses and was involved in a deal with a "Don Dixon" (first name not confirmed but likely to be that, I can't remember exactly, but the Dixon is right) for $30,000. Dixon had tried to get the missing guy's car crushed or melted, but ended up putting it into the Missouri river, where it was found. The missing person's body was found 17 years later, and a new witness came forward and said he knew both Dixon and the missing guy, and that he had seen the horse. The police believe it was a scam, but this new witness makes it sound like it was a black market oil purchase gone bad.

It might not be Don though, since Don Dixon is from the Eric Tamiyasu case...unless the names overlap, dunno.

Any help? I'll do a search of these forums, but with my vague details I can't really expect much.

If you actually watched the eipsode, you'd know there was an update with the 2 Swedish girls. The were able to find the guy they called Laurant (I think that's his name)...and they found the anonymous tipster. They haven't been able to convict the guy yet, but are investigating him...and I believe they said that they had found things on him that suggested he was involved in their murder as well as possibly the murder of other missing girls (*I THINK*)

I did actually watch the episode. I didn't remember that they found him, but now that you mention it it sounds familiar. I was wondering if there was a further update, like the releasing of the killer's name. The one they gave was more of a continuation than anything, it did update but it didn't really add a whole lot of information that they released to us.

I was actually planning to come on and post the same question regarding Laurent and the warehouse. There have been many episodes on UM like that, where they have an "update continuation" but then no follow-up. Isn't there an intern at Lifetime who could post some updates?!

I did a search and came up with this:

Unsolved Mysteries (04/08/92) Lifetime.
Unexplained Death: A report on the unsolved 1983 rape and murder of Marie Lilienburg, and Maria Wahien, two
Swedish girls who vanished while hitchhiking in California. An anonymous caller may hold the
key that will unlock the killer's identity. Includes update.
Updates: An archeologist believes he has located a part from Amelia Earhart's plane.
Lost Loves: Joe Soll is searching for his birth parents.
Unexplained Death: The October 1991 discovery of a human skeleton in a cave in Kansas rekindles an investigation
into the unsolved 1974 disappearance of business man and horse trader Gary Simmons.
Update: Jackie Dragon is reunited with two long lost sisters.
Fraud: A fraudulent medical supply company that bilked investors out of millions of dollars.

from a post of Justin's, it's apparently from Season 4. This is the episode.

In my opinion, Loren Herzog and Wesley Shermantine are the men that murdered the Swedish hitchhikers Marie Lilienberg and Marie Wahlen in 1983. The “Speed Freak Killers” lived outside of Stockton – a direct line to Interstate 5 – and a likely place for hitchhikers to pick up a ride to LA or SF. The decomposing bodies of Lilienberg and Wahlen were found decapitated and discarded on SR166. Herzog and Shermantine, teenagers, most likely mapped the route from 1-5 to SR166 to US101 to City of Commerce where the Swedish women’s belongings were found in a dumpster. Then, after having dispensed with the bodies and belongings, returned to Linden CA on I-5. Another probability is a truck with a camper-shell can give the impression of a van, and addicts often look like they have protruding watery eyes. As the Speed Freak Killers aged (Herzog married with children) they may have become complacent. With the advancements in Forensic Science and Crime Scene Technology from 1983 to 1998, I believe these serial killers were finally convicted and incarcerated for the homicides of young Caucasian females.

Post The Cases of Loren Herzog and Wes Shermantine "Speed Freak Killers"

Update February 2012:
From San Quentin death row Wesley Shermantine gave clues and a map that lead to a search for long-lost murder victims. San Joaquin Sheriff's Office heading up the search for human remains dredged from an old well in Linden, CA and unearthed 1,000 bone fragments in a mass grave Shermantine calls "Herzog's Boneyard". Herzog committed suicide in January 2012 after learning his partner in crime was planning to reveal the locations of these serial killers victims. The killings spanned two decades-80's and 90's-and two states, California and Utah. I believe Marie Wahlen and Marie Lilienberg fell victim to the "Speed Freak Killers" in the 1980's. Likely the young women hitch-hikers were a few of the first on a long drug induced killing spree. Because the bodies were found, the killers began dumping the other victims in wells on rural properties where they were less likely to be found by hunters.
