Default Would Good Times have been funny if it was like the Cosby Show?

No Standouts Characters, just a Family like the Huxtables who was POOR instead of Rich. That's what Esther and John Wanted but The Producers always PLAYED DEAF-lol And I'm not Talking about Florida acting like CLAIRE, just a Black Family who loved each other and stuck together through Tough Times.

No it wouldn't. JJ's goofiness was needed in the early seasons to break up the tension.

So a Black Family without a FAMILY CLOWN who lived in the Ghetto wouldn't have worked in 74?

Me too I don't need the over the top goofiness to laugh. I give props to actors who can make me laugh without being so goofy and over the top. For example James and Florida made me laugh and they weren't goofy. It does not take much to make people laugh if you are constantly goofy, wearing hats with chickens and cows etc etc.

Michael would be a completly different character. I don't think he would be as much of an activist if he wasn't strugling as much.

No the financial situation would be the same, it wouldn;t be no CLOWN just a Family getting through the Tough Times. Kind of Like a Family Matters before Urkel

The Cosby Show was okay, in my opinion. It had its moments in making the audience laugh. I will agree that the JJ character kind of took it over the top at times but if I had a choice between the Cosby Show and Good Times, it would definately be Good Times.

I think it might have worked. I don't think it would have been as funny, but the characters were very likable, and it was an interesting premise.

Monte even tried again when he developed 'What's Happening!!' and we know how well the network loved the original pilot.

There was no excitement in the Cosby's so I would vote no to this.
