I am sorry if I'm being repetitive, but I'm new to this board and I'm interested in this case. Was anybody ever caught in this one? This was the guy who was murdering people at shopping malls up and down I-70 with a .22 pistol.

Also, I'm not sure if the abduction and murder of Christina Williams was on unsolved mysteries, but this happened in my area (Monterey, California) about 1997 or 1998 and they never found the cowards who did it. I haven't been able to find any updates. If anybody knows about this case, I would really appreciate any information.

If anything, there are some Internet message boards alleging that a man named Donald Blom might be the I-70 killer (if you google "Donald Blom", you will find those boards). But the allegations are just that: allegations. Apparently, they were based on the similarities between Blom and the composite sketch of the I-70 killer.To date, there is no real proof that Blom was the killer, and I don't know if he was ever officially a suspect.

However, I do know this: Donald Blom is serving a life sentence in Minnesota in an unrelated case. Specifically, 1999 abduction and murder of a teenager named Katie Poirer. That case was never featured on UM, since the crime occurred just after UM was axed by CBS, and the resolution came before the series was revived by Lifetime. It was, however, the subject of an episode of Forensic Files (the name of the episode is "Tooth or Consequences").

No, Christina Williams was never profiled on UM. But you can find links on the case if you google "Christina Marie Williams."

Just a quick note that the I-70 killer was believed to have possibly been responsible for 3 more murders in the state of Texas. That would be in addition to the other 6 he killed along I-70 in states like Missouri and Indiana. If there is a connection between these and the Katie Porier Kane mentioned, that would bring the total to at least 10. Eerie.

It was a stretch of I-70 that went through Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, and on ... I will watch it later today and post the actual cities it happened in.

I do know that the man was killed in Terre Haute, IN which isn't too far from me. I read somewhere that since all the other killings were women and he was possibly the only man killed that the killer may have thought he was a woman since he had long hair and an earring.

I know it was in Raytown Missouri when the killer was actually seen by the guy renting a tux from the wedding store.

Yes, Donald Blom. I had no idea he was a suspect in these I-70 killings which I actually dont know much about. Katie Poirer I believe was either 19 or 20 but still basically a teenager. She was abducted from the convience store in Moose Lake, Minnesota where she worked. I live in Minnesota but I live in the southern part of the state probably about three hours south of Moose Lake. If I remember right Blom was caught on a security camera in the store leading Poirer out. A few months later they found teeth and bone fragments in a fire pit on Blom's property and these were later identified as Katie Poirers. Blom eventually was convicted and sentenced to life without the possiblity of parole. Blom I believe had prior run ins with the law and I think has been considered a suspect in several other murders. Here is the link to his file with the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Doesnt say much about where he is now. I believe he was receiving death threats and stuff and they were concerned about his safety not just because of threats from the general public because of threats from other inmates. I checked out the link from kardrmas15's post. To me, Donald Blom doesn't appear to resemble either of the sketches that were on the UM highway 70 killings segment. Although, that segment aired in 1992 I believe, and the picture of Blom was from 1999 or 2000, so that is a 7-8 year difference. Still, they just don't look like the same guy. Also, the estimates from the 1992 highway 70 segment had the suspect in his 30's I believe, and Blom would have been in his 40's at that point. But you never know, maybe they are the same guy

Donald Blom raped one of the victims, all of his victims were pretty petite brunettes. They worked in stores located near I-70 or I-35. He used a .22 semi automatic or a .25 semi automatic. Vicki Webb of Houston, Texas described her would be killer as . .

He was 5' 8" tall, thin, almost gaunt, with a weathered look about him. Reddish blonde hair.

The F.B.I. have concluded that six of the victims were killed with the same gun a .22 caliber semi automatic. The shell casings, slugs and caliber of weapon will all match Donald Albin Blom. The bullet removed from Vicki Webb ALSO MATCHES the six other victims. The killer's motorcycle and that of Donald Albin Blom MATCHES EXACTLY. The others were shot, Katie was strangled with Blom's bare hands. The St. Charles Police Department has just been given his file.

Is Donald Blom the scum that was featured on Forensic Files kidnapping a girl from a gas station and wearing a NY Yankees pullover or top? I don't believe that if Donald Blom was the guy with the Yankees top, he was the I-70 Killer because the I-70 Killer dressed in suits and looked sort of clean in appearance.

I had mentioned above that I didn't think Blom could be the I-70 killer because Blom was in his 40's by that point, and the projections for the I-70 killer was that he was in his 30's, but after reading what you wrote, I could believe that they are one in the same person. The composite sketches on the UM segment had him looking rather young, but looks can deceive sometimes.

I dont think the I-70 killer was Donald Blom. However the reason isnt because of his age. They said the I-70 killer I believe was from his mid 30's to mid 40's in age. I dont think it is Blom based on the composite. But I would have to see a picture of what Blom looked like at the time of the I-70 killings before I could make a for sure judgement on that. This guy was just creepy. How he would walk in so calmly and just walk out again in the same manner. How he walked around like he was in a fog, like he was spaced out almost. He would always act that way before a killing it seemed. That guy that faced down with him when he went into the bridal shop and the killer tried to get him to go in the backroom and the guy refused and finally the killer let him go.
