Sad The final hour of That '70s Show "Leaving Home Ain't Easy/That '70s Finale" 5/18/06:(

Leaving Home Ain't Easy: Part 1 of 2
As the Formans prepare for their move to Florida, Kitty puts Red in charge of showing their home to prospective buyers. But Red scares them away, so Kitty takes over the job, only to discover it's not as easy as it looks - especially when touring the home forces her to look back at all their special family moments.

That '70s Finale: Part 2 of 2
It's New Year's Eve and about to be 1980 when the gang gets together to celebrate and say goodbye to the decade. Donna prepares to leave for college, while Fez and Jackie come clean about their true feelings for each other. Meanwhile, Hyde gives Red the surprise of a lifetime, and Kelso returns home to ring in the new decade with his best friends.

What a sad but happy setimental way to close out That '70s Show. It will surely be missed.

OK, I'm confused. Is Topher Grace in this episode or not? The TV Guide post said he was but you make no mention....I'm curious...

I heard that Topher's in one, five minute scene that was pre-shot. So he wasn't at the final taping in front of the audience. He just did his scene and then left. Ashton Kutcher, however, seems to be in a good part of the episode and was at the final taping.

Okay, I started really watching That 70s Show pretty late. I think around Season 5, but I have now seen every episode, thanks to the DVD's. The main character in the show, through Season 7, was Eric (Topher Grace); however, he was never my favorite character. It was always Hyde (Danny Masterson) and then Kelso (Ashton Kutcher), but now, not only is Eric still not my favorite character, but Topher Grace is one person who I do not want to see for a long time. This is 100% because of the fact that he does not come back just to tape one, 5-minute part of the LAST EVER episode in front of the viewing audience! Without That 70s Show Topher would definity NOT be getting movie offers. He owes the show to come back for the last episode. I mean it is only 5 minutes! But, no! He gets it pre-taped?! He owes the viewing audience, the fans, the director, and the other co-stars to come back! I may not be that old, but I have seen some Hollywood stars to stupid, selfish things. But so far, this is one of the worst!

I'm just glad that Topher is coming back at all. Even if it's only for 5 minutes, it's better than nothing. And I think he's been real busy with Spiderman 3 so that's probably why he wasn't at the final taping.

While I am happy that Topher will be in the final episode, I have to agree with Faith+1. It seems very disrespectful that he can't give his castmates and the audience a real farewell send-off. I mean, I'm sure it would make viewers really happy. Even though he doesn't get along with some of his castmates, I'm sure there are some he did have fun with (Laura Prepon comes to mind). There had to have been good times he had with them, which in my opinion, would be enough to come back for an hour long show. If Ashton (who is way more Hollywood than he has ever been), can take the time out of his busy schedule to film this, I'm sure Topher can.

I really like his character a lot and I'm sure audiences would love to see him make a full return for just that one episode. It won't kill you, Topher.

p.s. I'm getting really sad reading these blurbs about the final episode. I am really going to miss this show. I hope I can hold it together.

I wonder if we're going to learn where Fez is from in the finale?

I have a feeling we will. I was reading the episode description for "Love of My Life" at tv.com and it says that a friend of Fez's shows up to take him back home. Hopefully, we'll finally find out what his real name is as well.

Thanks for that. I always thought that the final scene of this show would be Donna and Eric laying back on hood of the Vista Cruiser....I guess it won't happen but it would have been kind of cool....

As to Grace not being there for the final taping: If the guy is working on a movie so schedules sometimes get crossed. You really can't do much about that....but if someone doesn't like Grace because of it you can't satisfy everyone I suppose. If the show had ended last season like it should have we wouldn't have had this discussion.

I couldn't agree with you more. Topher Grace just came away looking like a total jerk in my opinion. And while he's been in some big name movies, Ocean's Eleven and Twelve come to mind, he was a bit role, a supporting player. Same with Traffic. That was an ensemble cast. It's beyond me why he'd thumb his nose at the very people/show who made him rich and recognizable and enabled him to have a future in movies and television. And while I know he's filming a movie, I'm sure they would have worked around him for a week while he did the finale. Except for Spiderman III, I really hope I don't see him for a long, long time.

I'm very suprised that Grace came back but in a very jerk liked fashion. Look at Home Improvement, Johnathan Taylor Thomas was on the show until the start of season 8 when he left for Costa Rica. He came back for the christmas episode in 1998 but afterwards he didn't come back. That was so wrong of him. Yeah, I could really tell that Topher's role was pre-taped as the audience was a machine so I could see that it wasn't the way it was supposed to be. Another comparison of the Topher coming back as a pre-shoot was the final episode of UPN's Star Trek: Enterprise when the show ended it had Riker and Troi hosting the show as a Next Generation episode and it also had Trip Killed fighting thugs and then it only had the whole Enterprise NX-01 crew as supporting to a bad Next Generation episode. However, I really though That '70s Finale was a great way to start and end in the basement with the whole licencse plate reading That '70s Show December '80! That's my 2/2 worth!

It doesn't make sense does it? So maybe your assumption is wrong? There really is no proof he thumbed his nose at anyone. Also, what makes you think it would be "easy" to work around his filming schedule? IMO, that is just not always doable. My god the guy didn't have to show up at all but yet he did? How rude of him.
