...very popular outside of Good Times? I seem to remember back in the 70's him being somewhat popular. Maybe I was too young to remember, but I seem to recall Willie having some popularity.

Funny, I only recall his last tv appearance on Jeffersons. I never knew he was anything else (comedian, music, etc.) I don't recall anything else of him growing up. Of course by 1977 I was 12 and there wasn't much info to look into like nowadays with so many channels on television, computers, etc. I wonder where he is now and what he looks like now.

I was the same way. In 1979, I was 12. I watched the programs back then, but didn't know jack about the actual person porttraying. Him especially.

I think Brian is looking for someone who was 12 in 1971 or 1972, not 1977-LOL Just joking with ya-lol

He was also a stage emcee in Sanford & Son's episode, "Brother, Can You Spare An Act?" (or other one like it), where Fred's brother-in-law Rodney appeared with his jokes & whatnot.
Dap's emcee character told Rodney to, "Take it away, honkie..." before the performance.

I think I am getting Dap Sugar Willie confused with Raymond J. Johnson Jr. That comedian from the 70's who always did a bit on variety shows, "You can call me Ray or you can call me Jay..."

Same here. I'd also like to hear his comedy albums if I can find them sometime.
