Default A few episodes where Thelma seemed to overact.................

Now that posters on this board have mentioned it, I can talk about episodes where Thelma overreacted.

The TV Commercial(VitaBrite) JJ said, "Dat's good,." and Thelma said, "Dat's good?" My mama's not going to be on TV where she is speaking improper English.(You need to watch this episode to see this scene. She REALLY overreacted. Even Flo had to stop her, with a hug, I think it was )........................

Thanksgiving(when Henry Evans, James's father came over for Thankgiving) Thelma said in a high-pitched voice, "Shouldn't grandpa be here by now?" I cringed when she said this in a high pitched voice.*I wish there were a "cringing" smilie. I would use it here, but this smilie is the best that I can do.

She overreacted in an episode(That I don't know the name of) She was saying, "JJ. we've got so many bills, water bills, electric bills, telephone bills"...... This was at the beginning of the episode.................

She did overact in almost every episode. Last night i saw the episode of Florida slamming doors and getting mad at everybody. Thelma seems like this alot of the time.

That's what i was thinking when i read this thread title....A FEW EPISODES... I so agree with your post Brian.
I truly believe her behavior is the female version of James, screaming, hollering, yelling, etc.

they really needed to have better plots with Thelma, they are all very similar. One of the few I like with her as the main focus is the one where she moves into that college apartment with her friends.

I agree, they could have done more with her besides having her become engaged 20,000 times! lol And she did overact a lot, I agree with all of you. I remember seeing an interview with Sally Struthers and she said she thought the writers of AITF didn't really know how to write for a young woman, obviously it was the same for GT, lol.
