I have always wondered why people say these phrases and what they mean?
Such as:
It's time to hit the hay. Or it's time to hit the sack. And when you find a corn cob with a feather in it throw it over a barn.

Ok this post might be kind of
stupied but I've always wondered about this.

It's a strange thing I agree....I guess it probably goes back to the times where everyone was a farmer...maybe they slept on hay?? lol...I have no clue though!

I actually have a book that explains the origin of weird sayings like that. Unfortunatly, I have packed all my books in anticipation of my moving in about a month, so I can't look those up for you

Remind me in about a month if you are still interested in finding out.

ok this has been bugging me for awhile i hope its not to out there yea ok why did people all of a sudden sleep in the same bed as their lover instead of two different beds...wht did they get lonely?(i know sure would have..)

I think they wanted to get intimate. Of course I don't have a lover so I wouldn't know for sure.

"Hit the hay" probably refers to back when matresses were stuffed with hay. As for the corn thing... never heard it..
