Default The Tribeca Film Festival was awsome this year!

I got to see so many great movies. Here is what I saw in no particular order...

Grave Dancers

In the wake of a funeral, three former college friends celebrate life by partying in a cemetery. But returning home, the friends discover something from the cemetery has followed them, and enlisting the aid of two paranormal psychologists learn they've unwittingly unleashed a trio of malevolent spirits hell bent on dragging them back to their graves.

Sheitan

'Le Sheitan' tells the story of a group of youngsters who exit a disco late one night and accidentally run into a shepherd who has prepared himself for a night of Satanic worship.

Hatchet

When a group of tourists on a New Orleans haunted swamp tour find themselves stranded in the wilderness, their evening of fun and spooks turns into a horrific nightmare.

It is the final film to have been shot in New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina. It stars such horror icons as Robert Englund (Freddy in A Nightmare on Elm Street), Tony Todd (Candyman) and Kane Hodder. (Jason in Friday the 13th)

Cocaine Cowboys (Documentary)

In the 1980s, ruthless Colombian cocaine barons invaded Miami with a brand of violence unseen in this country since Prohibition-era Chicago - and it put the city on the map. "Cocaine Cowboys" is the true story of how Miami became the drug, murder and cash capital of the United States, told by the people who made it all happen.

That's great Brian. Those movies sound fantastic. Really, every one of them seems interesting.

So, did you see anyone famous at the Festival? Was Bobby D. there?

No, unfortunately, I did not see the ever elusive Deniro, but I did catch a glimpse of Harvey Keitel, Steven Van Zandt, Chris Daughtry and Deon Richmond (Kenny from the Cosby show)

He was at a party for Rollingstone magazine. It was the 1,000 issue I believe. It was at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Well, he was certainly receiving the "Superstar" status as all the media was taking his and his wife/girfriend's pictures in front of the Rolling Stone sign. He didn't show off his infamous bald head though, he was wearing a gray bandana.

That's so cool that you had a good time. Did you go alone, or was it like a group thing?? I'm just curious. A couple of those movies you mentioned sound very interesting to me, particularly, the documentary. I'll have to check that one out when it's available. Of the movies you saw, did you have a favorite??

Btw, I found out that they actually do have an Oregon film festival each year. Obviously, it doesn't have the fanfare, or bring out the celebs like Tribeca, and Sundance do, but they still play some really good unknown films. It sounds like alot of fun, so I think I'm going to go next year.

I went with a friend and we saw all those movies together. Of the movies I saw, Hatchet was my favorite. They really did an excellent job with it. Cocaine Cowboys was very good too. The only thing is, it was over two hours long, which is kind of long for a documentary.

Yes, there were several that I wanted to see, but didn't have the time to go.

One in particular was,"The Saint of 9/11."

It was a documentary on the life of the fallen Fire Department Chaplain Mychal Judge, who died on 9/11 while giving last rites to a fallen firefighter.

Sam's Lake

A young woman brings some friends to a lakeside cabin, where 40 years earlier, a deranged teenager slaughtered his entire family. The group of friends soon find out, that the murderer's bloody legacy persists and their own lives are in jeopardy by the legend of Sam's Lake.

There are a few others that I wanted to see, but I can't think of them off the top of my head.
