Premature Baby Came In Extra-Large At 14 Pounds

(AP) MANTECA, Calif. Most preemies are small. But this premature-born baby was big. A baby girl who had grown so much inside her mother that she had to be delivered one month early was still born much heavier than average at 14 pounds.

Olivia was born on March 22nd to Brandy Womack and Zack Patrick. She's finally home in Manteca after nearly a month spent in a hospital where doctors monitored her underdeveloped lungs and heart.

Medical staff decided Womack should deliver her daughter before full term when a sonogram in the seventh month showed she already weighed about eleven pounds, nine ounces.

Doctors estimated that if Womack had carried Olivia for the full nine months, the baby could have reached about 16 pounds.

I think it's safe to assume that the baby was delivered by cesarean, lol. I'm glad she's fine. That's a big baby, especially for a girl. I hope her weight settles in to a normal level.

It had to, I doubt anyone has strong enough muscles to push out something as large as a watermelon through some opening as small as a quarter lol.
