From what I know, it's fiction. I believe only portions of two episodes of "I Love Lucy" were colorized, "The Christmas Episode" and "L.A. at Last!" There are also rumors that "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour" was colorized.
I'm sure if more episodes of ILL were colorized in 2003, as it would have been announced on one of Tom Watson's newsletters at Lucyfan.com, or in one of the newsletters from the Lucy-Desi Museum. And I think if it were, many more Lucy fans would have known, and it would have been discussed here and at other Lucy message boards. The picture on that site doesn't support that it's fact, either. It looks to me that it was very cheaply colorzied in Photoshop-like program, which anyone could have done. Wikipedia.com lets anyone post articles at their site, so this could very well be fiction. BUT I don't know for sure...there's a very slim chance that ILL was colorized in '03, and aired in only one or a few places in the world, but like I said, there's a very slim chance that that happened. So as far as I know, it's fiction.

Thanks for your input, Dizzy Arnizzy!
That's what I thought, too. I thought it was fiction, too. The only two episodes to my knowledge that contained colorized scenes were the Christmas Special & LA at Last. And, yes, you are so right. If there were more episodes of I Love Lucy colorized, we would have known about it via Tom Watson and/or the Lucy-Desi Museum. There was also that rumor of an I Love Lucy episode was actually filmed in color. But, that has yet to be discovered, if in fact it was filmed. I felt the same way about the "Heart on Satin" opening credits pic too. It didn't look legitimate. |
