HA HA!! There is no way the Skipper could have stayed that fat on just fruits and fish!
Maybe they should have asked the Skipper to lose some weight to make the show more realistic! |

That's a good point! There's no "real" answer to your question--mainly because even the scripts didn't agree from episode to episode what foods were available to them. One week they'd be killing a boar to throw a party for Mr. Howell--the next week the Skipper would say that he hadn't had any meat to eat since before the shipwreck. Most of the time they were shown catching fish, but often there would be lines about living off of "bananas and coconuts." Also, as far as I know (and Gilligan Fanatic may correct me on this), there is no mention of citrus fruits until "V is for Vitamins" when suddenly there are lemons, grapefruit, oranges, etc.
I suppose the "real" answer is that they got fattening foods from whoever styled Ginger's hair, imported updated clothing, and got them a generator that only works for movie projectors.

like Bonsai said there was a lot of problems with food from episode to episode. And I think you are right about never mentioning citrus fruits before "V For Vitamins" Some people are just naturally big. One of my friends had surgery on there throat and they way about 250lbs. After there surgery they couldn't eat anything unless it was through a straw. He was like that for three weeks. The next couple weeks he still didn't each much at all. 6 Months after his surgery he still weighed the same amount.

But you couldn't actually make a pie without cream, milk, and/or butter plus where is the closed oven??
Plus the Professor told Kinkaid that there is no wild game on the island but how did they get that boar then??? LOL! You'd think if they just had some seeds they would have been able to plant wheat because with wheat they could have bread, pie crust, flour, pasta, cereal, etc. etc. Also, if they had seeds for soybeans then they could make soymilk and have milk and cereal!! LOL!! There should have been an episode where they found a bunch of seeds to explain more food on the island. And I don't mean those radioactive seeds!! LOL! |

At least for eggs we know they had duck eggs. Which is something that makes me go hmm because Emiliy the duck seemed like a rarity to them but if they have duck eggs for breakfast they must have a lot of ducks there. The only thing I can think of for milk is coconut milk but I don't know if that could really work. |

I've always wondered the same thing. There were some very noticable discrepancies(sp?) in the show at times.

plus during their ENTIRE time on the island, noones clothes ever got worn out, or got holes in them or anything, and the skipper, the proffesor, Mr. Howell and Gilligan were always perfectly clean-shaven!!!
All these things, though, can be explained with just two things:

One thing you could say about worn out clothes is about how in Bang Bang Bang Gilligan's clothes are torn apart and ripped. They are in perfect shape at the tag scene at the end of the episode. |

There is no way you could eat an egg that was already forming a baby duck! The eggs we eat have not been made fertile by the male bird so they would not result in a baby duck. Most eggs on the island would be fertile though I believe so you could not eat them.
