He is 3 months old and his name is Rex.
I got him about a month ago. Does anyone else here have a Boston? What can you tell me about them? I am learning how to crate train. Can anyone give me any helpful hints?

My family had a Boston Terrier named Jessie in the late '80s and early '90s. He was a neurotic fellow. If we were gone for a few days he would trash the place. He always had a bad case of separation anxiety. You should take really good care of Rex and give him a lot of attention. If you are out of the house often, I recommend you have someone look after him.
My favorite anecdote associated with him was the time my father won pet food from a radio station. When the D.J. asked what the dog's name was, he replied "Buttface." (that was his nickname for him) That got a lot of attention from friends. |

Crate training is relatively easy. I have my dog trained to go there at night. I tell him "Go night night" and he walks right in. I give him a treat and tell him good night. He barked alot at first, but is good now. He even sleeps in there sometimes when my daughter is getting too rough with him.
If you need any pointers check out PetSmart's web site. They have lots of good information on there about crate training. The most important thing is to make sure he sees it as his place and try not to use it for punishment unless absolutely necessary... |
