Yeah, his father walked out him as a kid, and it hurted, and he had a right to be angry. But they were talking 35 years. Time should have healed that. My father walked out on us and didn't show up until 12 years later. It hurted, but when I saw him after 12 years, time healed that pain. James should have been glad to see Henry and show him what a man he became. If you ask me, he acted like a baby in that episode.

I feel that James was, for himself, over the fact he didn't have a father...however, he was angry at the fact that his mother was left with having to raise the kids, without any warning. He just up and left. I can deal with pain dealt to me...but when I saw that my late father was being treated like dirt by his wife (money hungry beeyoch) THAT PISSED ME OFF. It's almost like, I would rather I be the one being hurt than my parent, who doesn't deserve that. Just like being a parent, hurt me, but don't ever hurt my kids or I will beat your ass down!

I think James had every right to be angry with his father. Not only did he lose out on having a dad, his mother was left with nothing. He also had to quit school in the 6th grade to help support his family.

I think I would be PRETTY DAMN PISSED if my father would have left for 35 years!!! AND, James' father didn't actually "come back" on his own, it was because Thelma found him. He's lucky James spoke to him at all IMO.

Everyone reacts and deals with pain differently, we're not all the same. James had the right to be angry, he also could have resented the fact that he had to quit school to support his family. He was robbed of part of his childhood having to take on adult responsiblity, something his father never bothered thinking about. I know it's just a TV show but, these things happen in real life and we shouldn't go around judging people on how they deal with adversity.

I think James was pissed that he was where he was in life because of his father. James never had a solid education and because of that, he bounced around from job to job.

What parents fail to realize is that they're actions and the things that they do to the children whether it was intentional or not can affect their lives for a lifetime. I know, I've been there myself with my late mother. It took years before I finally realized that it was what it was and that I had to learn to move on and forgive and she's been gone for 16 years. For the simple fact that it has been 35 years since James had any contact with his dad, it still hurted him and I can understand that completely. Yeah, time may heal all wounds and reconcilation is possible but you never forget.
