For history class we need to bring in the lyrics to a song that represents the 60's. I know a ton of them but they are always the ones people think of like "Eve of Destruction" "For What It's Worth" and "Let's Get Together". Anybody have a suggestion for one that is less well known but still represents the era? I just don't want to have the same song everyone else has.

thanks Irene, I didn't even think of most of those. It's weird because I know the songs but since I am not from the time I think of them as just songs. I read the lyrics to some of them and its amazing they stand for something and have a reason for all the words unlike the songs of today.

The Mama's and the Papa's songs are another good reflection of the times.
Crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James and the Shondells. Grateful Dead is another choice you could go with. Janis Joplin has some great songs from that era. Or you could do the whole Motown, R&B thing. Otis Reddings music before he died was popular, Ike and Tina were still going strong. The King and Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin and James Brown. I LOVE THE 60'S!!!!!
