I just shaved my legs a little while ago because I want to wear a skirt today. It takes a while me awhile to shave them (that's always my tedious pet peeve but I LOVE wearing skirts/dresses so I deal with it), so I find that after shaving, I have to look over to see patches I have missed. I seem to also get some ingrown hairs. I then find myself pulling them out so I can clip the individual hairs with a nail clipper. I would like to know of a better alternative to shaving other than electrolysis or waxing. Those sound painful! How well does Nair work? I've heard of it, but I don't try it.
Anyway.... How do the rest of the ladies deal with hair removal? |

I think you and I already talked abt my hair on my legs. I only shave once a month. Not even that because my hair is so sparse and so light. My 17 year old daughter is the same way. My eldest daughter hates us because she MUST SHAVE EVERYDAY. She tried the nair, but it stinks soooooo bad. It's kinda boring she says to just sit and wait and wait and then wash it off only to have to shave because it doesn't remove all her hair. I have never had to shave above my knees because the hair is so thin, so light and you can't even see it. You practically have to stick your face right on my thigh to see them. But my eldest daughter hates Nair. She feels better with the good old fashioned shaver.

Don't take the ingrown hairs out with a nail clipper; it can infect the site. Walmart sells something to heal them ; you can also try shaving opposite to the hair growth. Make sure to use a shaving cream for sensitive skin and that your legs are well lubricated. Also try using a good razor like Schick Quattro.
Nair irritates the heck out of my skin . |

If you have the money, you can get surgery where you won't grow hair on your legs anymore.

Yeah I hate Nair, it does stinks and it actually burns my skin because I have sensitive skin. So I stick with the old fashion razor, but I use lotion instead of soap. |

Thank you all for your responses.
It will definitely help to shave in the opposite direction to avoid those ingrown hairs. And I will have to spend a little more on a Schick Quattro razor. I got the cheaper ones, but they seem so weak. They easily get dull or have hairs that clog the blades, so I have to usually remove them blade by blade. Ugh.... Thanks again, everyone!

I get my arms waxed and the more you have it done, the less it will hurt, because it loosens the hair follicle.

Nair is crap. I tried Veet once and it pulled out nothing. Total waste of $$. I bought an electrolysis pen from Sharper Image.

I've used the Veet kit with the bladeless razor and I thought it worked great. An added bonus it smells better than Nair. Just don't use the Sally Hansen brand I had a horrible reaction to that, and couldn't wear shorts for an entire week of vacation.

I've never heard of the "Veet" kit, but I will look into it. Thanks again, everyone!
