Default New Debate, Was it the James or J.J character that was the MAIN reason you watched GT

James was the star of this show to me and was the most entertaining when he was upset about something. His character was very REAL, and not buffoonish and he is one of the most underrated Sitcom characters in TV history. To me J.J was the Co-star.

Solomon, you didn't pose the question right. I tune in to see James now, but initially, it was JJ that got me hooked. The question should be, was JJ a star of Good Times during the 70's?

That is correct. When I first started watching Good Times, it was because of JJ. He was a major star in the 1970's and if he left the show I don't thing Good Times would have lasted as long as it did. Watching the shows now, I still like JJ but I really do enjoy James and the shows after he left are just not as good.

When I first started to watch GT James was already killed off. Janet jackson got me hooked on the show, when I first tuned in "The Evans get involved" were the first episodes I saw.

And Solomon, I was just being facetious about the (tight pants) remark.."I was just being silly"

Tara?

I watched it for JJ. I enjoyed the banter between JJ and John Amos.

That's another thing that was lost when John Amos left the show. They really were great together.
