Question Your Wedding Proposal?

If you've ever been married or engaged, how did the proposal happen?

I wish I had some romantic story where my husband had a plane fly over Fenway Park with a banner reading, "Janice, will you marry me?"

The boring truth is that we just started living together. After about a year, he started mentioning marriage, but in a way that it was a given.

For my birthday that January, he suggested we go to a jeweler to pick out my diamond.

On the way back from ordering my ring, we stopped at the wedding function hall that's very popular and booked a date for that September.

No bended knee. It just happened sort of naturally.

I was actually engaged twice, so I have two stories. lol The first proposal was to my high school sweetheart. I got a leave from the Navy and I hitched a ride from Virginia to my girlfriend's house in New York. I got there in the middle of the night. I tapped on her window and woke her up. When she opened the window, I was in my uniform and got on bended knee and proposed. (Thankfully that engagement didn't work out)

For my second proposal, I sent a single rose to my wife saying to meet me at the top of the Empire State Building on a certain day. On that day, we met at the top of the Empire State Building and I proposed to her. I then took her out to dinner and a Broadway show. It cost me an arm and a leg, but well worth it.

Brian, you're such a romantic. Now I'm pissed at my husband, lol. Kidding.

Both of your engagement stories are very sweet.

Thanks, but I can't take all the credit. My wife's favorite movie was Sleepless In Seattle and that is where I got the idea from. LOL

My husband proposed to me on Christmas morning in 2002. We spent Christmas out at my parents, I was still in college just about graduate. And he made it look like he left my gift at his house. So Christmas morning after we opened all of our gifts, my cousin was looking at the tree and she noticed a little present sitting on one of the branches (she was in on it) And Nate (my hubby) took it out of the tree and he got down on BOTH knees, he asked me in front of me whole family. That's how it happened

Tom and I were out walking on boardwalk which ran along the river behind my old house when he turned to me and asked me. I kind of knew it was coming though. It was after dark and the moon was out and the light was reflecting off the river so I guess it was kind of romantic.

My mother had told me how my father proposed to her. She was 17, and he was 29. They had been dating less than a year. He was dropping her off one Wednesday after a date. Out of nowhere, he said, "How about if we get married this Sunday?"

This was the early 50s, and they were poor so a big wedding was out of the question. They got married that Sunday. My grandmother put together a nice wedding in her house for them. They were married for 50 years.

It was my birthday... he made me a home made dinner and afterwards he sat me down and blindfolded me and brough out the cake. I opened my eyes, and there he was on bended knee holding the cake that had written on it "Will you Marry me?" and the ring was sitting on top of the cake. It was very sweet.

We were parked in Dave's parents driveway one night and he presented me with a large wrapped package. Buried deep inside was an engagement ring. He then asked me to marry him. My stupid reply was "Are you kidding?!" That was the last thing that I had expected. Well I said yes and we have been married since 1968. I was 18 he was 24. Our daughter was born a year later

The one proposal I ever got, was actually kind of interesting. I met this girl from Argentina online, and within five minutes of chatting with me, she was convinced that she was in love with me, and so she proposed. She even had figured out in that amount of time how many children we were going to have together. I know that's not exactly what you had in mind when starting this thread Janice, but it was a proposal nonetheless. LOL!!
