Thumbs up The Brady Brides

Anyone seen this little short lived gem? I can see why it didn't last, it should have been less goofy and a little more serious. I think they chose the wrong guys for the girls husbands. I would have also liked to see cameos by their sister and brothers.

Being a lifelong Brady fan, I went POSITIVELY GOOFY about the debut of the Brady Brides, but, like you, was disappointed, even as a 12 year old, by the cheap laughs the writers seemed to strive for.

Another thing I feel they got wrong was the fact that they turned the march-to-the-beat-of-her-own-drum Jan into a conformist and the ever-popular Marcia into a non-conformist.

If anything, Marcia would have grown up to marry Jan's husband, Phillip, and vice versa for Jan and Marcia's husband, Wally.

The Marcia I knew never would have allowed herself to marry such a f*ck-up like Wally, while Jan surely would have selected a man that wasn't interested at all in "fitting in."

Another plot device no one has ever thought of (and what, in my opinion as a gay man, speaks to the truth of Eve Plumb's never-ending moodiness) would have been to feature Jan as a lesbian.

If you think about it, it makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

I don't think the brothers needed to make an appearance because it would have been the Brady Bunch all over again-lol

They needed different husbands, though I did like the concept. It still would've been nice to see one of the brothers make an appearance. I bought the complete series, beginning with The Brady Girls Get Married from iOffer. My favorite episode was when they went on the Newlywed Game.

Who would want to watch a show with just Marcia, Jan, Carol, and Alice? It would have been nice if Mike, Sam, Greg, Peter, Bobby, Cindy, and Oliver made seperate or even family appearances. Don't ya think?

You have to figure...the girls went to college and became adults. The environment probably did influence them a bit. Jan's choice of architecture was a predominately man's field and is a bit on the conformist side, so she had to succeed in the business world, but I still saw some of her old Jan in her, just older. Also, she dated stick-in-the-mud Philip for 2 years before marrying him, so those things were probably a big influence on her.

For Marcia, becoming a fashion designer probably exposed her to a non-conformity world. For her being a popular girl, it suited her and those things probably influenced her to loosen up a bit. Wally, I think was the class clown and was also one I see as popular. They wouldn't have dated in hs though bc she was into jocks like Doug Simpson. Being older and wiser, she fell for Wally, who is a good match for her.

The series tried too much to interject a Three's Company type of innuendo into the Brady world. Harry, the neighbor kid, was totally a unnecessary character.
