Post Name the Different Eras of Sitcoms Online

I may have signed up in 2001 but I missed out on a lot of stuff. Its fun looking at the members list and seeing all the people who are not here anymore. For the people who have been here a while when do you think different eras started and when do you think they ended?

I remember back when Facts of Life was immensely popular and saying you didn't like Nancy McKeon made you worse than Hitler.

well, i can point out certain eras that were here while i was here...

Mid 2004 (May-August)- The Pre-Teen/Troll Era
There were a lot of pre-teens on the board during this time (me being one of them) and it seemed a lot of fights broke out with them. Also, summer 2004, there were TONS of surveys and news threads flooding the board that a lot of members began to get annoyed.

Also, from I am Him to OU812, there were a lot of trolls on the boards during this time, most were banned at the end of 2004 though.

Late 2004 (September-December)- The Dramatic Era
There seemed to be a lot of drama going on during this time. A lot of friends were lost over a lot of things. If you go back and read the boards during these times there were a lot of fights going on- all ending with the fight to end all fights- ...and...i'm not sure if people want me to say what it is.

Early 2005 (January- April)- The Peaceful Era/The New Era
After the rough days of Late 2004, the early days of 2005 seemed to be refreshing...there were hardly any fights going on during this time. Everyone seemed to be getting along. There were no trolls or friendship-ruining fights, just peace.

2005 also started some new things, such as the board upgrade and peace thing.

Mid 2005 (May- August)- The Miss Golden Era/The Dead Era
Mid 2005 marked one of SO's most famous and recent trolls- Miss Golden. Anyone who read even two of her posts would find she wasn't normal. The whole plot was about some wrestling forum and it eventually just got really weird. No one even knows what GENDER Miss Golden is, for they said once they were a girl and then they said they were a boy.

Mid 2005 seemed also to be a slow time for Chit Chat. Besides the Miss Golden madness, not much went on during that time.

Late 2005 (September- December)- The Growth Era
During this time, a lot of new members seemed to be joining. It was a time where new friends were being made and new posters were settling in.

Early 2006 (January- April)- The "Welcome Back" Era/The Present Era
Early 2006, the present era, I've found is an era where a lot of members who were MIA for the past 1-2 years are slowly returning back. A lot of old members are becoming regulars again.

Oh and 2006 shall forever be YEAR OF THE TEXAS SMURFTRACTORS

i thought 2004 was fun

2005 sucked for me, since i basically had no friends here. 2006 = fun.

from what i've red, 2001-2004 had a LOT of fighting (especially 2003- didn't chit chat almost close?)

The Random Board closed for a few weeks in the fall of 2003 after the Brandon S incident. We moved over and started a random thread on the Courtship Of Eddie's Father and Barney Miller boards. The fighting in 2003 was nothing like 2004 though. I still think 2003 is my favorite year on SO.

2004 for me

i liked 2004 because i had a LOT of friends here, and then in 2005, over half of them left the board, so 2005 just really sucked in general for me. i really had no friends here and it was just boring.

now, everyone is coming back, and 2006 is probably soon going to top 2004 as my favorite year here.

i still like my name DDD, for dorothy's destructive days. about june-november 2003.
the arrival of the preteens.
sarah's suspension...enough said.
the rainman days.
hmm...

after listing all the major events i could think of in that robyrob interview thread, it made me realize how plain and uneventful 2005 was.

Ah yes. Those were unique times.

I think that would be a good way to describe the eras here at Sitcoms Online

BRM - Before Rainman

ARM - After Rainman
