Feelings that surprised you? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Online friendships. I didn't realize how deep and meaningful these friendships can be. I've found that some of my online friends are more reliable than a few real life friends.

I never knew that having a pet die could hurt so bad. I knew I would take the death of my 17-year old cat bad. What I wasn't prepared for was the deep, intense grief that's still with me now. It's just about the same as losing a family member.

I wonder if I'll ever be able to watch or read stories about 9/11 without crying. It's as fresh today for me as it was the day it happened. The shock is gone, but the sadness is stronger than ever. That surprises me. I thought it would have subsided somewhat by now.

I also never knew I was capable of feeling such hate and rage (towards the terrorists) until 9/11.

I never thought a website, such as SITCOMS ONLINE could be so addictive. Is TJ kidding with this or what? Enough already! It's like the Mafia. There's no getting out.

Politics. I was never strongly politically minded until after 9/11. I had always heard how hot a topic politics can be, but was surprised at just how destructive they are to friendships.

Aging doesn't bother me. I thought once I hit 40, that it would flip me out. It doesn't phase me. I always thought it would.

What doesn't surprise me is how a long marriage is so rewarding. Actually, when I fell in love with my husband back in 1983, who knew the feelings would just grow and intensify over the years.

I never knew how emotional I would get whenever I watch American Idol, especially this season!

Finding Jesus Christ in my life was something I can't begin to even tell you about. It was the most euphoric feeling to have him in my life. Whenever I feel down or scared, I turn to him and everything seems to get better, even if it was for a little while.

The love for a child is also something that has floored me. I always knew I loved my children, but when one of them got sick, it really brought out such strong emotions in me. Emotions I don't even have for my wife.

i too have feelings regarding 9/11. Unlike you Janice, I watch anything and everything related to that day. I feel I have to know more and more. That day was *no words to describe*. I was 7 months pregnant and laying in bed and seeing this occur live on television was terrible. knowing it was happening was terrible. I knew we as a country were in trouble when I saw that second plane crash into the building. At that point, I knew what we know now. No doubt abt it. Holding my stomach and wondering what kind of world I was bringing my unborn son into made me feel so sick and helpless.

Giving birth. No feeling like it in the world. Bringing a life into the world that depends on you for everything. No matter how bad the pain, it is well worth it.

9/11 is something I take personally. It seems if you live here on the east coast in the tri state area, everybody seems to know somebody that died that die. I see the trailers for United 93 and I get sick to my stomach. When I found out the other day that they were starting to rebuild Ground Zero, I was elated!

9-11 gets to me. I cannot watch anything about 9-11. Especially since I use to go to those towers and eat dinner, dance, work, shop. I go to my fathers gravesite and see 9-11 people buried nearby.

Another thing that surprised me is marriage. There are times when I want to throw in the towel. Especially since my husband is set in his ways. He is always late to go everywhere. He takes his sweet time with no care about anyone's feelings. He's also vain. He takes longer than me to dress. I'm saddened by the way he is.

Another thing that surprises me is how you give your life to your children and you get kicked up the rear.

The feeling of forgiveness. I have had to forgive a few people for terrible things they have done to me. I could have held a grudge. I could carry the weight on my shoulders. Instead, forgiving is the most awesome feeling. It takes the burden off, the weight off, whatever you want to call it. I just think of how our Lord asked his father to forgive those who "know not what they do". Although I know these people do know what they did, I will not carry the burden of hate in my heart. Let those people be dealt with. It feels great. I know when I talk abt the "past" to certain people, they are amazed at how I can just simply talk abt it with out any emotion or hatred. I simply tell them because of the forgiveness. If I didn't forgive, I would still be angry, vengeful, hating, and all of that would show. I would rather be able to speak of something bad without all that emotion tagged to it.

Okay, but not exactly a matter of life and death, but still something that surprised me.

I hate hardwood floors. We've lived here for almost two years now, and the entire house has new gleaming hardwood floors. They are beautiful, but a pain in the neck to keep looking nice. I've got area rugs, so it's vacuum here, dustmop here, Swiffer the floors.

I always figured I'd love hardwoods floors, but I hate it. I'd love them if I had a maid, lol. I miss my wall-to-wall carpet.
