I get no respect

I am the oldest of my brothers and sisters. My youngest sister treats me like one of her little elementary school friends and I am sick of it. We got into an argument because I picked up the phone to call our mother because our other sister had left and I wasn’t sure that she had informed our mother that she had left. My 11 year old sister had said that our mother knew she had left, but I wasn’t sure. My 11 year old sister hung up the phone for me! We got into an argument right there. How dare she hang up the phone for me while I am still dialing? So we got into a screaming match, and I was like, “You need to stop treating me like I’m one of your 11 or 12 year old friends. I am way older than you and you need to give me respect!” I am thinking, “You don’t give someone respect just because they are your oldest sibling. Respect is earned, not automatically given.”

Then she was like, “You don’t act like you deserve respect,”

And the sad thing is, I’m old enough to be this girl’s mother.(Well if I had sex at nine years old, had my period then and got pregnant). So I am like, ‘I am old enough to be your mother. You better give me some respect.” (I’m thinking, ‘I shouldn’t be BEGGING for respect).

She’s like, ‘Your point is?”

We argue more, and then she says, “You can call mom and be the snitch if you want. So I called our mom, and it turns out, she did already know our sister went out.

After that my 11 year old sister and I calm out, but I am still thinking of how I let her walk all over me, then get upset when she doesn’t give me any respect.

Look at this

My sister turns of the TV while I’m still watching it.
She turns off the radio while I’m still listening to music.
My sister logs me out of the internet while I’m still on it without my permission.
She stays on the internet for a long time, and I have to beg her to let me use the internet for 10 minutes. (We share one computer with five people in the house) She says that she needs the internet because she talks to her friends online, and I don’t. I’m like, “Hello? I want to use the computer two. You’ve been on for two hours and I just want to go on for 1o minutes. She says, ‘You got your school(As if I’m going to be in school for the rest of my life)
She’s stolen money from me(or used to). And when I actually give her money, she never pays me back. She owes me over 30.00.

Our mom said that we could only use the internet for homework since our 15 year old sister has been acting up so bad. I wanted to use it for fun and I complained to my 11 year old sister, “Is it really fair that we have to suffer along with her? We didn’t do anything wrong. My sister says, “You’ve got your school.”

I’m like, ‘Like school is the only place I want to go on the internet at.

She said, “That’s the rules. If you don’t like it, get your own damn house.”
Is this the way a little 11 year old should be talking to a grown woman?

Even people in our church have noticed that she is very fresh to me. They asked me, “Janice, why do you let your sister speak fresh to you?”

When I turned 18, I said, “Now, I’m just like our mom and dad. So now, you can treat me like an adult”. And she said, “No. I’ll treat you like an adult when you turn 21, because that’s the age when you become a real grown adult. When 21 rolled around, she was still treating me like an elementary school child. Thank goodness I wasn’t holding my breath for her to treat me with respect when I turned 21.

I think she is too mature for her age, because she gradually got fresher. She used to be slightly sweet when she was younger, then gradually became fresher and fresher. She told me (about her change), ‘Everyone grows up. You grow up too slowly.” (This coming from a girl who isn’t even in the 7th grade yet. She also keeps saying, ‘I can’t wait to move out of this damn house (because our mom had mad her upset).” Even at the age of 14, I’d hadn’t given much thought about moving out of my house, and here she is, an 11 year old saying, ‘I can’t wait to move out of this house.” Let’s see, I seriously thought about moving out of my parent’s home at age 20 after my father had gotten me REALLY angry.

When we get into arguments, she screams at me that I am not her real sister and wishes I never came to live with them (my father and stepmother). I am like, “Hold on, I’ve been living in this house continuously since 1998, and that’s a long time for me to be treated like a real sister to you (She is my half sister, and tries to put me down by saying, ‘You’re not even our real sister (she and the 15 year old sister are real sisters, so I get to feel left out.)


I have a feeling that if I were allowed to hit her, she would give me some respect. Our other sister hits her, and she respects her more than she does me (but she does fight her back). If I hit my sister, I’ll be in trouble. I am old enough to be thrown out of the house. Our other sister is just 15, which is why she isn’t allowed to be thrown out of the house.

Janice, congratualtions on another "serious" threads. I like your serious posts, which are so different then your totally out there wacky threads! But, your youngest sister may not treat you with proper respect because as you say, you're her half-sister. She probably gives more respect to the 15 year old sister, because she is her "real" sister, with the same mother and same father. Most people would give more respect to their "real" siblings than half-sisters, stepsiblings, or foster/adopted siblings...........................
