hello,
Just wondering if anyone had some details on this case. Sorry I don't remember any names. I tried doing some searches on the boards with some keywords, but nothing came up. Anyways, there was this man who was a suspect for setting fire to a house. I think it may have been the house of his girlfriend, and she may have died in the fire. A convenience store security camera got a picture of the guy driving by the store at a certain time, and it was later concluded that he would have only had four minutes between driving by the store and setting the house on fire. There was speculation as to whether or not that would have given him enough time. If I had to guess, I would say this clip aired in the mid 90's, but I'm not too sure. Thanks for any help. |

I think you may be right, Awsi Dooger, I think it might have been a police officer, I had forgotten about that. I think it took place around 6 or 7 in the morning. I seem to vaguely recall something about discpancies in his log for that evening (I think officers are required to keep a log of calls they respond to and times they occur), unless I've got a couple of cases mixed up.
I could have swore this was a UM story, but maybe not after reading the posts. UM is the only crime show I watch, save for the occasional viewing of Dateline or 48 hours investigates, but again I only watch those once in a while. I'll see if I can do a little checking of places, maybe check the episode guide or post something in the other real life crime shows section here on Sitcoms Online. Maybe even an internet search, although that might be tough since I can't recall names. |

I'm not sure if this is the one you're talking about but Forensic Files did an episode about a serial arsonist in California. They were able to link him to many fires and I believe he ended up being a firefighter. They found a novel he was writing with a lot of similarities to the fires that were being set. I believe he called his novel "Point of Origin" and thats also the name of the Forensic Files episode about it.

The case mentioned in this thread is much more obscure. I've seen it several times on one of the crime shows. The poster who mentioned 6 to 7 AM is in the ballpark. I don't remember many other details including the state. |

I've just posted this case on the Other True Crime Shows board, so we'll see if anyone there knows anything about it. I'll post back to here if anyone on there has any details
