Default celebheights.com

I found an interesting and detailed website about the heights of celebrities.
http://www.celebheights.com/

On the home page, to the right is an alphabetical listing of many celebs and their height without shoes. The heights listed are not the final say (it's very hard to really know for sure a celeb's height), but for a lot of celebs, there is a comments area in which members post links of photos of celebs standing next to other celebs for comparison.

One of the most disputed height is that of Michael Landon. The site lists him at 5'9.5". Many times, his height was listed as 5'11".
Other fun ones to read are John Ritter (5'11"... I always thought he was 6' even), Elvis (listed on the site as 6') and John Wayne (6'4").
There is talk on the site about both Elvis and John Wayne having lifts in their shoes. Also Desi Arnaz. Listed as 5'10" but many people on the site suspect that he was 5'9".

I think he did that because he and Lucy were close in height, and since women back then wore heels all the time, they looked the same height. And some guys just can't deal with that. O_o

Yeah, the people who comment on that site seem quite sure that Desi used lifts.

I was surprised with a lot of the heights, especially with wrestlers. I never knew Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels were under 6'. I'm taller than I thought.

What a great website!

I read that bit on the main page about the female cast members of "Smallville." They sometimes have to dig holes for Tom Welling (Clark Kent)to stand in because his co-stars are over a foot shorter than he is!

Really? I wonder if they really dug holes for that purpose! Why not just put high heels or lifts on the women?

It is fun to read all the comments. Several of those who make comments have actually met many celebs (Frank2 is one of them).
It's also funny to see them argue...
"He is 6'."
"No way, he's no more than 5'10".
"I've met him and he's shorter than me and I'm 5'11".

And on and on.

You have to peek at his feet in some episodes. He's wearing very thick heels.

Actually, the paragraph also mentions that the girls do stand on platforms and boxes in some scenes. They aslo say that co-star Kristen Kruek (Lana) has to wear platform shoes at all times.

That is one way to tell.
What I can't figure out is why some celebs who were already tall (like Elvis at 6'0" and John Wayne at 6'4") would use lifts?

I suppose it makes sense. I guess the producers or directors of a show don't want one person to tower over another too much, except when that is the point of the movie (like in "Twins").
