Default Even though CBS was wrong by the way they cancelled the show, Sherman Hemsley was

Very Wrong when he said the Jeffersons was still in the top ten when the show was cancelled. The Jeffersons was not even in the Top 30 after it's 11th season. Sherman should have known a network would never cancel a Top 10 Show-lol

The Jeffersons ratings went way down when it moved opposite the A-Team. Everybody knew the show was on its last legs. Sherman had to be in denial. Alice was moved there too but they had the far sight to at least make a final episode.

I remember when they moved the show. I think it was in December 1984 or January 1985. Right then I knew the show was doomed. I stopped watching it. Their was still plenty of time for them to make a final. I actually remember a few articles in the newspaper when Michael Evans made a couple guest appearances when Lionel and Jenny were going to get divorced and it said something like will Lionel's return boost The Jefferson's ratings? CBS might not have told them they were being canceled but when your ratings go south in your 11th season, common sense should have told them that the end was coming.

I think I read on tv.com that the Jeffersons was ranked #55 after the 1984-85 season

I remember hearing on the news that both the Jeffersons and The Dukes of Hazzard were put on hiatus at the same time.

I think The Dukes ended their run in February 1985. They didn't have a final episode either.

The Jeffersons' went from 19 in the 83-84 season to 56 in 84-85 season. They wore their welcome out back in 82. The plug should had long been pulled on this show. It had the potential of going down as a classic but like Lear's other shows, except for Maude, they stated on too long. Unfortunately, CBS should had given them a final episode so the fans can say goodbye and the cast say goodbye to its audience.

How did you find out the Jeffersons was ranked #56 in it's last season?

Why do you think (your opinion) on why the Jeffersons went downhill? too many seasons? the schedule? Solomon, what is your feeling.

that's funny you said that because Sherman says that he is nothing like George. Sherman says he is emotional and soft-hearted and cares abt people.

I think it was the schedule since CBS moved the Jeffersons to Tuesday Nights in 1985 and it went up against the A-Team.
