I found it in the New York Post written by John Mainelli and it's called:
AX FALLS ON DJ DAVE DAVID Lee Roth was abruptly yanked off the air and fired yesterday after bashing CBS Radio for planning to replace him as early as next week with Opie & Anthony. The headstrong, ratings-challenged ex-rocker, who replaced Howard Stern on Free FM (92.3) less than four months ago, threatened to "launch World War Nine" if CBS doesn't do right by him. "This is not an amicable split and I didn't offer to quit," Roth told listeners yesterday. "I found out [Thursday] in the car going home after work here that today is the official last day." Roth did not go quietly. After trashing CBS for most of his show's first hour, he was apparently hauled off for a summit meeting with management while music played for most of his second hour. Then, with actor Jeff Bridges in the studio during his fourth and final hour, Roth went to a commercial break at 9:37 and never returned. "We got canned 20 minutes before the hour," Roth told Howard Stern legman Steve Langford, who cornered Roth outside Free FM's 57th St. studios, a few blocks from where Stern currently broadcasts for Sirius Satellite Radio. Roth told his Free FM listeners that radio was the hardest thing he's ever done, that it was unfair for CBS to can him after less than four months, and argued that it was like expecting someone to "put together a band, write an album's worth of songs, rehearse the stage show to perfection, and do it all in front of cities like New York City and Philadelphia." Stern, who sympathized with Roth and who's being sued by CBS for alleged contract violations, warned Opie & Anthony that they'll now have to "deal with that bunch of python-sniping vultures over at CBS." "O&A" are returning to CBS - while continuing to broadcast for XM Satellite Radio - after being fired nearly four years ago for their headline-making "sex in St. Pat's" stunt. CBS Radio spokeswoman Shavonne Harding declined comment except to confirm that Roth is history. I didn't listen to David Lee Roth, but he is done for now. Opie & Anthony will be on Free-FM this Wednesday for the first time in 4 years since they both got fired or suspended at WNEW during the St. Patrick's Cathedrial incident in 2002. I'm not a fan of O&A. Will see what happens. |

I only listened to Dave the first few weeks he was on the air, then i gave up. He wasn't good. Still, I feel bad for the guy. He did try, and he was fighting a losing battle from the start.
No one could have held Howard's old audience, period. I'm sure O&A will bring the ratings up. Maybe if they are succesful, CBS will stop harrassing Howard with lawsuits. |

I never got the chance to listen to him because I listen to Scott & Todd however it is unfortunate. I do like the guy's music.
Guess he'll have to go back to being just a gigolo!

I agree with you TJL, Roth wasn't very good, but 4 months is hardly enough time to create a suitable audience. I guess they saw O & A were available and pounced on the situation. I can't blame CBS there, because before they were fired from WNEW, they had very strong ratings.
