I am pleased to say that I have fully converted an 11 year old to a fan of Dick Van Dyke. Seems like this is about the right age where they understand the show, and think it is funny.
Anyway, part of enjoyment for him is to search for Frank Adamo in crowd scenes. Seems like Frank is in nearly every show somewhere, often at parties in the Petrie home. However, he never has any serious dialogue. I wonder if anyone knows if he actually acted after the DVDS? Perhaps he was of limited skills. |

...Frank was Dick's "personal assistant" and stand-in on the show. If the scene called for an extra in a crowd or a minor character walking on-screen, you can bet that Dick insisted that Frank do it. After the series ended, I don't think Frank was really interested in an acting career of his own..I don't know how long he remained with Van Dyke after 1966.......

In Nick at Nite's Classic TV Companion book http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Nick%20a...NsawNib29rcw--
there is a thing they do called "The Adamo Watch" every time he is in an episode they point it out. Also they have a little info on him. It seems like after the show he went to work for MTM on her show. From there he was more or less retired and was a volunteer in a hospital. He came back for a commercial as a delivery man in a commercial for Nick at Nite. He was also on Inside TV Land I believe. |

I always watch for Frank too. It's amazing how many times you can see an episode and not have
spotted him before. I noticed for the first time today that he was one of the jurors in "One Angry Man." |

he was also in a special that Dick did for N@N sometime in the late 80s, called "CHAIRMANS CHOICE". At the time, they were showing "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW" (when they started showing "THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW" too, they would mostly show the 2 shows back-to-back) and Dick was the networks chairman. (at least, they used to say that. I've always wondered if he really was) One night, they showed this special, and it was some episodes of the show that he personnally chose, and Frank Adamo made a cameo as a delivery man.

...that Frank was also seen very briefly in the back row of the airplane in "Washington Vs. The Bunny"? You'd have to look hard to see him, but he's there!
