Default Yes...

...the original "BILL COSBY SHOW" was seen in New York (on WPIX-TV) in the early '70s , MINUS the closing credits (they couldn't remove sponsor Procter & Gamble's products shown in the lower corner of the screen- 16mm network prints had been used!). And it was shown on cable in the '80s...now it's on DVD!!

right, and that's where I remember watching it. I had forgotten, though, that they didn't show the closing credits.

This is off topic, but they also showed reruns of "I Dream of Jeannie" & "Get Smart" at that time, and that's where I "rediscovered" both shows.

Default Has "The Bill Cosby Show" ever been syndicated?

In Pittsburgh, WPGH-53 ran Cosby off and on in various slots from 1974 to 1976.

WBBM-TV Chicago aired The Bill Cosby Show reruns during the mid 70's thru early 80's. Episodes were complete including the closing credits. I have VHS tapes of these, glad to know the DVD's are coming out in summer. This was a great show.

I remember it coming on WPIX in the early afternoons in the early 70s. I also remembe WPIX showing Get Smart, Jeannie, F-Troop, Superman, Batman, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Addams Family and Please Don't Eat the Daisies during that era. I didn't know that they could show a program in syndication without showing the closing credits though.

On another note, why was this series cancelled or why did it end? It was #11 in the ratings in its first season but wasn't in the top 30 for its second. Cosby went over to PBS the next season to work on The Electric Company for a year while getting credits for his phD then went back into prime time and also did Fat Albert, both for CBS.

Finally, this is the only situation comedy I can think of that had only one official regular cast member (in the main titles that is). The onlt dramas I can think of that were like this were The Fugitive and Run for Your Life.

I also watched this in WPIX during that same era (early 70s)... seems to me that the Bill Cosby Show ran during a couple of time slots...seems like I remember it being on at 4:00 at one point and maybe at 2:30 or 3:00 at other times... we used to watch it after school, but I'm not positive about it's time slot...

We also watched the show in it's original run on (I think) Sunday nights. We really liked this show... I had no idea it was coming out on DVD, but I'm glad it is.

I remember it coming on at 2:30 (right after Get Smart) and 3:00. That would've been in probably the 72-73 and 73-74 seasons.

I recently improved my 52 episode set of The Bill Cosby Show. I obtained an uncut copy of The Elevator Doesn't Stop Here Anymore episode. I now have all the episodes uncut. I also upgraded The Deluge parts 1 and 2, quality is much better now. The only episode I still would like to upgrade is Viva Ortega.
