Who was the most unlikable 70's TV Father-"George Jefferson or Fred Sanford or BOTH? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Which one of these characters do you feel it was hard to like? George or Fred? Or do you think both was likeable? I'm asking because someone said they didn;t like neither the Jeffersons or Sanford and Son because both characters were very rude, shallow and mean.

You know i disagree with that-lol

I think both were rude, shallow, and mean, if they could make that buck, they were going for it.However, I think George may have been more respectful to Lionel than Fred was to Lamont, but also feel that Lioned wouldn't have taken as much crap off George that Lamont did off Fred.So I think Fred, by a hair.

They were both bigmouths, but if I had to choose one for my father, I'd take George. At least he was rich.

Fred was probably the more "likeable" in that he was fun loving and enjoyed life, didn't feel superior (except to Puerto Ricans like Julio), but both he AND George had their prejudices, George just seemed a bit more real to life. So with that realness, people probably took more of what the character said to heart.

Although each character had his faults I never thought of either of them as unlikeable. They were both very funny.

Poor Julio. He tried so hard to be neighborly to Fred. One of my favorite lines from the show is
Julio, "Buenos Noches Mr. Sanford"

I would say neither. As much crap as they talked and as much hatred they sprewed, everyone loved them because they were honest, loving and funny.
