Wasn't pinwheel a PBS show?? I'm not sure if it was PBS or Nickelodeon, but I loved that one!! Other good PBS shows:

Lamb Chops Play Along (Loved the theme song. I still remember all the words!!)
Mister Rogers Neighborhood
Reading Rainbow
Barney and Friends (Yes, I was addicted to this show at 12 years old. LOL!!)
Sesame Street (Before the theme song changed)

There was also a show with Bill Cosby that I liked alot, where he'd draw pictures with a big loud marker. I can't remember what it was called though.

Pinwheel was on Nickelodeon. In fact it was the show that launched Nick in 1979, back then it was called the Pinwheel Channel

Picture Pages with Bill Cosby!!!

(and Mr Wizard I remember was on Nick as well!)

I watched Sesame Street, Barney, Reading Rainbow and Storytime on PBS. I enjoyed Nick more though, Maya the Bee, Noozles, Eureka's Castle, David The Gnome and other shows.

I watched Reading Rainbow with my sister but most of the others are before my time. For me PBS is Magic School Bus, Arthur, and Carmen Sandiego but one show I saw in reruns that I liked was Ghostwriter. I did see Mister Wizard's World on Nickelodeon though, it came on after Rocky and Bullwinkle.

I don't remember watching many kids shows on Nickelodeon. I guess I had outgrown them when they were on.

I watched YCDTOTV all the time though!

PBS and Nick are two different things

i remember zoom, sesame street (obviously) and reading rainbow. we always watched reading rainbow in school on videotapes in like 2nd grade.
