Default I'm wondering if Gene the border was supposed to be...

...a regular in season 1? It seems that they wrote him in to be a big brother/father type to Raj.

It's pretty sad to bring in another character when Mabel's role was getting smaller and smaller.

I don't know if you will agree with me Brian but would you say his character jumped the shark when he asked Mabel-"Mrs. Thomas can I say something else? and Mabel turned around and said real loud-NO!!!!!-lol From that point on I saw no purpose for his character

I never really saw any purpose for his character to begin with.

obviously that was his purpose, why else would Mabel talk to him and treat him the way she did...as if he were her older son, blood relative or something. He was a boarder, not someone for her to talk to like she did her own kids.

Yeah but he did get the girl in that clinic episode. And Raj didn't. And how did he crack on her anyway? Mabel called him as he was getting ready to make his move. He must've been making trips down to the clinic behind Roger's back..

that's what i was gonna post.

but still, why bring in a new character when the role of Mabel was decreasing? that wasn't fair.

The boarder thing was a bit silly. Why in the world would Dee want to give up her room?

Dee was a child so she had no choice. She may have ran over Raj and his crew but she didnt stand a chance with Mabel. The Thomas household was always hurting for money so Mabel had to do what she had to do. Remember on the Christmas episode how she planned to work extra hours? Remember when she didn't want Raj to get that job and he had to sneak it behind her back because he wanted to help out? By the time Raj got the job, Gene was out the picture. I guess the audience wasn't that receptive to him.

Don't forget in season three when Mabel was hypothetically there and how Shirley became the new boarder as Raj moved into the dorm for his college years.
