Honestly, I had a little trouble watching a concert during a 30 min Sitcom which is - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

why I'm not a fan of Part 2 of the Dobbie Brothers ep-lol That was way too much music for a 30 minute episode. I think the producers forgot a viewer only has 30 min to watch a episode. I think it was a horrible and lazy job by the producers to just show a Doobie Brothers Concert for like 10 min. I watch a sitcom to laugh not look at music-lol

You have to understand, during this time the Doobie Brothers were mega-stars. It would be like having Britney Spears on a sitcom (which recently occurred) and having her sing songs. The Doobies were winning awards, grammys, they eventually earned song of the year and other accolades. Them having added Michael McDonald just raised their status as rock stars even more. To me, hearing them play for ONLY ten minutes was not enough.

I liked the Doobies two episodes

But I would NEVER EVER watch Britney Spears sing anything, I couldn't stand to watch her for 5 mins never the less 20 mins lol

I know, me either... I am just trying to give a good example of a "hot" celeb that makes an appearance on television. WH was 20 years ago. Their appeal is hard to understand when they are no longer a group, selling records, etc.

I agree with you 100% Solomon. I know they needed to have the concert for the plot purpose for Rerun to be caught with the recorder but the concert just made the episode drag to me.

then how would the 2nd part have played out without the concert? Rerun needed to be seen recording them...without that footage of the band, what do any of you suggest the episode be played out? How could they have made a 25 minute episode? Show the boys hanging out at the soda shop and then have a commercial and then show them after the concert is over?

Generally speaking, that particular two-parter episode of the Doobie Brothers was more than A-OK with me!

Anyhow, I think that it brought more excitement to the sitcom as a whole, granted that WH was just in its second season (rather, toward the end of it.)
It gave most of its viewers (at the time) something to look forward to, at least...

It may be weak to you, but when it was shown during its first run, it was an exciting thing. You don't seem to get that if a series has a celebrity of some sort on their show and that celebrity is in its prime, then, it's going to be awesome. Seeing it now in reruns, unless you are from that era (a teen or adult, I don't mean a young kid) you will never appreciate the status the group brought to WH.

It was a better concert than the ones the gang did in the 3rd season, LOL. Now that one should have never been filmed.
