I hate MLB! - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I don't know if anyone else does this with another team or sport, but I listen to the Cardinals games on my computer because I can't get KMOX (the station that broadcasts Cardinal games) on my radio (Well I could drive my car up to the top of a hill and be able to, but I don't have that kind of time). Anyway, I went to the Cardinals web site, find out that they changed it, it's now part of the MLB web site. They do not have the nice scorecard that the CARDINALS site had. This is the part that has me furious though. Starting next week you have to pay 9.95 for the season to have access to listen to any MLB game on your computer. These are the same games I listened to for free last year. And if I was in Illinois or Missouri could turn to numerous radio stations that are part of the Cardinal network and listen to the game for free. If this was the old site I wouldn't have to pay so this really makes me mad, but I want to listen to the Cards so I guess I'll be pulling the Visa out next week. Anyone else thinks this is ludicrous?

I live in Atlanta and although I haven't listened to KMOX in awhile, I used to listen to Blues and Cardinals games all the time as well as that Sunday night trivia show that Art Fleming co-hosted which was very cool. The signal was loud and clear.

It's all about greed, who can afford to attend the games any more? Atleast there are so many games televised on cable, I feel sorry for fans in different parts of the world and those who can't afford cable.

The NBA does the same thing, fortunately you can still listen to the NFL and NHL over the net. $9.95 is really not a lot if you plan on listening to a lot of games.

I refuse to pay to go to a game anymore, because it's so expensive. I end up going to several games a year because I get freebie tickets from work. But it's been a very very very long time since I've actually paid for MLB (or any other sport, for that matter, except the Packers, becuse they are still pure). I feel that by paying the price of admission, or in your case, the ridiculous $9.95 streaming media fee, I'd just be adding to the greed.

I'm moving out of my townhouse with the rooftop bleachers too this summer, so that will sever my ties with free Cubs games.

The admission to the games don't bother me that much. The Cardinals aren't that bad and they're winning right now. I remember when the Reds used to be really cheap and the prices went up in the last few years and really went up last year when they got Griffey. I try to get up to Cincinnati when the Cardinals are in town. The best admission to a game was last year. One of my best friends in college lives in the twin cities so I went up there when the Cardinals were going to be there. The Twins are so awful I think they were more Cardinals fans there and we got these general admission tickets for $4 that you could sit anywhere in the upper deck that we wanted to. Parking for the Twins game was $5, for U of M b-ball games $7, and Vikings $25. The Twins aren't exactly the pride of MN anymore. Her older brother went with us and we had a blast. They also unvieled the top 10 moments in Twins baseball history and two involved the Twins beating the Cards in 87 and all the Cardinals fans booed.

I was in Atlanta on business a couple of years ago. I had a few beers and decided to go exploring the city on their subway (I know, not safe.... you probably can't give me a lecture that I haven't already heard from my mother, so unless you have something really original...). So I end up out at Turner Field and the Cubs were in town. I figure what the hell, my buzz was wearing off and I needed some more beer. I went to the gates, and we were like 1 inning into the game, and they let me in for $1! It was a pretty good seat to, like lower grandstand. The ticket agent was saying something like that if games don't sell out, they relase the first 500 tickets after the game starts for a $1, then after those sell, it's $5. Good deal. I'd be going to alot of games if that was the case.

BTW, I believe that the Braves beat the Cubs silly. The Cubs were actually good that season (won the Wild Card).

I enjoy MLB but i think the NL games are too long and often boring cause they drag on too much. Im a Yankee fan so im always keeping up with the AL and there games are faster and more exciting. Its just something i have noticed.

Can I move in? I love the cubs. Every game I can't attend in person (that's 99% of them), I watch on TV.( WGN shows about 75% of the season them the others are on Fox Sports or TBS or ESPN or one of them networks.) I love the cubs. (Hey, it's the only team I get to see when I want to)
