Default Did Fred Constantly Bully Barney?

In all the years I watched The Flintstones, I noticed that Fred was constantly bullying Barney and calling him names. Case in point was when he called Barney stupid and almost lost him forever. Feel free to comment on this as well as post other incidents where Fred bullied Barney.

Default No....

...Fred didn't "bully" Barney, he just "threw his weight around". That's his character...a loveable big mouth who THINKS he knows the solution to every problem....even when he's proven wrong. He has to "impress" this upon Barney at every plan and crisis.

But Barney isn't a "pushover", either. The fight they had in "The Golf Champion", where he gets the best of Fred with his "new watchdog, Buzzsaw", proves it. When he gets miffed that Fred doesn't want him as a partner at the Water Buffalo picnic, he lets Fred have it (off-screen), giving him a black eye. At the picnic, when Betty wishes Fred luck in the first event, Barney scowls, "I'll do my OWN wishing if you don't mind...and it shouldn't happen to a dog!". No, Barney can stand up for himself in these "small crisises". The rest of the time, Fred and Barney very close friends.

I never thought so. Fred yelled at Barney a lot, but never bullied him. It was the same as Ralph Kramden and Ed Norton.

I think Fred bullied Barney sometimes, what about the constant name calling actually hitting Barney, Threatening him, mocking his laugh, and making constant remarks about how dumb Barney was when Fred was (in most episodes) even dumber etc. Barney was weak he hardly ever stood up for himself or got angry when Fred called him names or hit him he just took it. But then again Barney bullied Fred sometimes by making fun of his weight, but Fred stuck up for himself much more and wouldn't take it.

They were good friends mostly but i think some of the things they did to each other were bullying, especially Fred.

It's weird when I was little I always thought Barney kinda picked at Fred a little just to see him get angry. It seems Fred only exploded on Barney when Barney started ribbing him about his weight or some other non sense.
