I thought this segment was such a space-filler it was ridiculous. Yeah, I GUESS it's kind of interesting, but I always felt like there was so much more UM could have talked about.
Maybe it's just me. |

This segment freaks me out. I think it's pretty interesting....and it's a relatively well-known phenomenon (I think there's a "Kokomo Hum" as well).

Julia Roberts lives in that town. I wonder if she hears it?

It makes you wonder if it is, say, the power grids or something along that nature, why would only a select few people hear it?

An interesting, unique segment, but it probably doesn't belong on the Ghosts DVD set, which is where it is. I guess there is a small chance it could be a ghost, but there is probably a rational explanation for it, even though I have no idea what it could be. I always thought it was funny the way Robert Stack referred to it as "The Hum"

I think the sound in different areas is created by different things. In regards to the Taos Hum, I think it could have something to do with the wind, and how it rebounds off the mountains or something like that. However in other parts of the world, it could be the military ELF thingy they mentioned in the segment.
Any news on the hum? |

i didnt watch that segment but i read about other "hum" in France. In the 50s some people reported listening what it sounded as an orchestra playing in the distance. Of course this sound couldnt be recorded and all the thing was forgotten with time. Since then no one else has heard it.
Maybe its the same case here. I dont wanna play the skeptic but if its a sound, microphones should record it. Maybe its a strange case of colective Tinnitus sindrome or maybe they just wanted their 15 min of fame. |

I was ready to give the benefit of doubt to the people profiled in the segment until they went into the cave. Then I decided they all had some type of hearing damage.
Headphones, sirens, even wind -- who doesn't have some form of mild hearing damage these days? |

I hear the hum selectively, especially when I don't want to listen to someone
