I used to love watching this talk show on Lifetime. It was back in 1985. It was the first time I had ever seen RICHARD BELZER. I recall watching the infamous show when he sustained a serious injury from HULK HOGAN when Hulk did a wrestling move on him and it caused Belzer a head injury. It was all over the news and they played that tape over and over again. Here is what I found on the net abt that incident:
_________________ Belzer was the audience warm-up comedian for Saturday Night Live in its premiere season and made three guest appearances on SNL in 1976 and 1978. Richard Belzer as Detective John Munch in Law & Order: Special Victims UnitRichard Belzer survived testicular cancer in 1984, his HBO special and comedy CD Another Lone Nut [1] pokes fun at this, as well as his status as a well-know "Conspiracy Theorist". Belzer married actress Harlee McBride in 1985. In that same year on his cable TV talk show "Hot Properties" Belzer insisted Hulk Hogan put a wrestling move on him. Hulk Hogan put Belzer in a front chin lock or sleeper hold, which caused Belzer to pass out. When Hogan released him, Belzer hit his head on the floor, sustaining a laceration to his scalp which required him to be hospitalized briefly. Belzer sued Hogan for $5 million, they settled out of court and Belzer used the settlement (rumored to be $1.5 million) to purchase a cottage in France, where he and his wife Harlee live when he's not working in the US. |

he also battled a drug problem at one point and also ive always been surprised that with his popularty he has never returned to host snl i used to watch hot properties all the time it was a very good show but it was too ahead of its time to really be succesful baack in those days with the exception of david letterman .viewers liked ther talk show hosts to be warm and cheery richard was even more dark and cynial then letterman or some times even darker than howard stern but a show like hot properites would be a huge hit now
