Obscure 1960's sitcom with Asian boy - help?
I recall seeing this sitcom in the mid 1960's. It involved an American man who had adopted an Asian boy (don't now recall the country). Each week was a story that involved the Asian boy encountering a situation and learning more about America, and sometimes there were "values" messages given by the kind and gentle man who was his adoptive father.
I have long thought it was Dennis Weaver playing the role of the father, but I don't see the show listed on IMDB under his name, so I may be wrong about that. It was somebody like Dennis Weaver in his manner and appearance. Anybody know or remember this show? I think it lasted one or two seasons. Thanks for anything you can suggest! -RC |

"KENTUCKY JONES" (1964-'65), the series Dennis Weaver quit "GUNSMOKE" for. Rickey Der played Dwight Eisenhower "Ike" Wong, Kentucky's ward (as seen in the photo accompanying this thread), in a gentle comedy-drama series that only lasted one season [it gave way to "I DREAM OF JEANNIE"].

Thanks to both of you -- I've been trying to remember that show's name for decades! Dennis Weaver recently passed away, and that triggered me once again to try to solve the mystery. I appreciate your help!

...has the rights to "KENTUCKY JONES" (having acquired what had been "NBC Films" in a sprawling deal that stretched across three companies), but doesn't know (or care) about reissuing the series, as it only lasted about 26+ episodes.
