Thumbs up The Passion of The Christ finally making it's cable television debut!!

I just thought I would let everyone know that after over two years of it's original theatrical release, The Passion will finally be making it's television debut on Showtime, starting on April 15th. I wrote Showtime many months ago asking why the heck they didn't have it in their movie lineup, and spent about 30 minutes explaining to them why they should, so I'm very happy with this news. Here are the air dates for it:

Showtime
Saturday 9:00 PM

Showtime Too
Apr 17 9:00 PM

Showtime
Apr 26 8:00 PM

Showtime Too
Apr 27 8:00 PM

Showtime
Apr 30 7:45 PM

That was a great movie. Too bad I don't have Showtime.

I bought the DVD the day it was released. I also have showtime. I can't wait. It is thee most sad movie I have ever seen. It is so engrossing. I have never ever cried throughout a movie. The first 20 mins. were calm...then BOOM! The sounds in the theatre will never compare to watching it on t.v. and I never heard such a loud silence in a theatre...NEVER. No cell phones, no talking, no eating, NOTHING. not a sound or a peep.

I also bought the DVD the day it was released, as well as the VHS. It was easily the most excited I had ever been for a movie to be released. I remember how badly I wanted to share this movie with my friends and family, and so I was literally counting the days until it came out on DVD. My movie theatre experience with the film was also quite amazing. Probably not as impactful as yours was, because I went a couple months after it's release, and shared the theatre with only two other people, but it was still quite amazing to see on a big screen. Definitely the most impactful trip to the movies that I ever made, and I doubt it'll ever be duplicated. Definitely one of those once in a lifetime kind of things for sure.

I don't think this movie is going to do well on cable. This is the type of movie that watching it once is enough.

I might tune in to Showtime HD just to see how it transfers to high-def.

The Passion is now on Showtime on demand, and it will be there until May 13th, so for anyone who hasn't seen it and wants to, you can now watch it on your own time, anytime, over the next month.

Yeah, you're probably right now that I think of it. Even with it being aired a day before Easter, it probably didn't do much better than your average showtime movie. I didn't watch it's airing on showtime for the very reason you mentioned. It was hard to watch once, much less multiple times.

I already saw it when it was in the movies. And let me tell you all this.... this was nothing compared to what Jesus actually went through. You got to realize that the gates of hell were opend on the day He died. They were having a field day with Him but ony because He died for all sins of the world. The gates of Hell has no power over Him unless He allows it. Could you imagine that if He thought the way people do today? We'd be gone from this world already. I don't even want to think about where anyone would be. We're lucky that He doesn't think the way we do. Well, sooner or later He's going to say...'Time's Up'.

I have yet to see this movie. It's hard because I know in my mind I should see it, but whenever I go to a video store, I can't bring myself to rent it because when I want to watch a movie, I want to be entertained, and not that I don't think The Passion of the Christ would be a bad movie, but it would just be so emotionally draining and who is ever in the mood for that?

Bring on The Da Vinci Code!

That's cool that they had the guts to air it. Is that a Canadian channel only, because I don't think Iv'e heard of it before.

I applaud them for airing it though. it's nice to see that some tv stations have the guts to air material like this!!

Yes it is, and TQS in Montreal aired it shortly after (With French Subtitles of course).
