Yesterday, they showed the story of Irvin Freeman, the man who wanted to find his "foster" daughter, Jean Ann. He and his wife tried to adopt her but her bio-parents got her back after two years. There was no update.
What bothered me the most -- other than this poor man probably went to his grave looking for her -- is that SURELY he knew her family's name. Privacy in 1943 wasn't what it is today in family courts, and since they had at least two hearings, he had to have known her bio-parents's names. But they never gave them. I wonder if UM refused to use their names. |

You bring up a good point about the adoption laws not being what they are today. It would seem strange if he had never known their last name unless the couple asked that it not being released. I can't imagine though that UM would refuse to mention her name. I mean after all they did air the segment in hopes of reuniting them and I believe they mentioned in the past on lost loves segments names of adoptees. Its very unlikely that Irvin is still alive (he was such a sweet old man) but lets hope they were reunited and its one of those cases that UM just didn't bother to update.
