for those who haven't seen this; just one word:DON'T!!!
it's AWFUL!!!!! (I'm talking about the 1993 theatrical movie; not the 1981 reunion movie-although that's just as bad) |

to be fair though; that 1981 reunion movie was so bad because Paul Henning (who wrote it) said in th 1988 book "THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES" that when he wrote it, he was on medication that would make him depressed, sometimes. When the cast gathered and started to read through the script, they realized that it wasn't very good. But there was a writers strike on at the time; so they couldn't get a rewrite on it. And they were already committed to making it.

Too bad they didn't do their own rewrites, they knew the characters and situations well enough that they could have done pretty well.

there wasn't one in the 70s!!
There was a reunion movie in 81 that was also pretty bad. But, I was refering to the theatrical movie from 93, the one where Jim Varney played Jed & Cloris Leachman was Granny. READ MY POST AGAIN!!!!

Personally, I liked it. It was a little corny, but I thought it was cute.
It really wasn't that bad, in my opinion. But then I seem to like movies that are made from sitcoms. I liked Dennis The Menace, The Flintstones, and Leave It To Beaver. I guess I am just weird. It's kind of sad that Jim Varney died. I thought he was an hilarious actor. I loved him in all the Ernest movies. "Hey Vern!" I have always liked Cloris Leachman, Lily Tomlin, Deidrich Bader, Erika Eliniak, Dabney Coleman, and Lea Thompson. She was also in the Dennis The Menace movie as Alice Mitchell. I didn't care to much for the actor that played Lea Thompson's boyfriend, I don't remember his name. I didn't find him that funny, I thought his character was an idiot.
