Question David from Sesame Street

What year did Northern J. Calloway, the actor who played David from "Sesame Street" pass away? How did he die? Was there an episode where they talked about his death? How old was he when he died?

He passed away on January 9th, 1990. He died from Stomach Cancer. Unfortunately, I have no idea how old he was when he died. I do however remembe rthat they did not do a special episode of Sesame Street explaining his death (like they did with Mr. Hooper). Hope this helps!

Question

Did they do it for the death of Alaina Reed's husband and Jim Henson? Was there mention?

No... not sure about Mr. Reed, but they made sure to not mention Jim Hensn's death on Sesame Street. His death was addressed in a special that aired shortly after his death, with all the muppets accept for Kermit singing "Rainbow Connection". It was very touching.

I think I can clear that part up. Her husband's name was Kevin Peter Hall and she added the name Hall to hers. When I was little I never remembered seeing her husband on the show. He (just like Alaina)was a regular on 227. They were married on the show and in real life. He died on pneumonia complcations in 1991. He died while playing the loveale monster in "Harry and the Hendersons"

Is it true that Mr. Calloway was mentally ill, or is this a myth? I heard that shortly before his death he was found naked in a field. When authorities went to him he went berzerk running into a nearby house and shouted "I'M DAVID FROM SESAME STREET AND THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL ME!!!!!, WHAT ARE THE CHILDREN GOING TO SAY?" He repeated this several times and was kicking and screaming. Later, it turned out that he was a resident of a mental ward. (This is the story that I have heard, some believe it and some don't.) What is known for sure is, yes, he had stomach cancer and died as a result of it.

Yes. The stomach cancer may have related to his mentality. He was eating grass I heard too. His weight may have contributed to it..

David was one of the humans that lived on the street. For example, there's Linda, Gordon, Susan, Olivia, Maria, Luis, Bob and others. I know that for a fact because I used to watch it when I was a like 1 and 2.

David was one of the humans as I said. He was kind of heavy, had a little bit of a raspy voice. Sadly, the actor who played him died on January 9, 1990..

Hey, Nate

If you're a KMart shopper, I bet you saw the K-Mart commercial with Alaina Reed last year or 2 years ago.. I like her Detrol LA commercial!

See you in my next post. I have to go NOW! STOP!

According to this write up, the late beautiful precious masterpiece of a gentleman was shot at.

God bless you always!!!

Holly (a girl who will forever love him)

P.S. I don't care what he was or wasn't guilty of. His decision to stay with a children's show only went to show how well intended he was, not to mention whatever he did to try and take care of himself, and those two things alone is enough to make me forever stay with his beautiful memory.

Surprises me that he was kept after the incident.

I never read the 2008 book "Street Gang, The Complete History of SS'' but before the IMDB page shut down their discussion boards someone posted a piece from it mentioning that he had problems through the 18 years he was on the show.

^^^ Apparently what you saw over at IMDB was a bunch of baloney. If his track record really had been so extensive, them eighteen years on the show never would've happened for him. I have seen some things said about how things were for him just before his leaving the show, but if those things really did happen, I can't help but wonder if Northern was ever once provoked when anything questionable concerning him took place.

God bless you always!!!

Holly (a girl who will forever love him)

P.S. I love listening to him give the Muppet on the left during this clip a voice.
