It dawned on me early this monring that exactly four months from today will be my 30th birthday. And to be perfectly honest, it scares be a little bit.
I know there are probably quite a few of you reading this who are yourselves over 30 and are probably thinking to yourself right now, "Cry me a river, Mike.", it is just that since turning 29 last August I have become much more aware of the passing of time. Like that it has been almost 25 years since I started Kindergarden, 13 years since I got my driver's license, nearly 12 years since I graduated from high school. And I just don't know where all the time went.I hope this thread doesn't make it aouind like I am depressed, I'm not, just a little uneasy. |

I've Been There

I've been there and still going thru it; I just turned 37 last month and now I'm thinking that in three years; I will be 40 and not too happy with my life. It goes too fast and really do want things to change for the better. |

I know I'm younger than you, but I've been feeling it to a certain extent. I haven't been out of high school for very long (3 years), but in the fall it will have been 7 years ago since I started high school...Well over the half-decade mark now.
Next year will have been 10 years since I started junior high. This fall, 15 years since I started kindergarten. I'll be 21 in four more months. Some days, I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact I am in my twenties. It's just...wow.I feel the same way as you -- it seems like JUST yesterday we did these things. They seem like they happened in a whole other lifetime, when times were different, etc. It's quite freaky, really. |

I think everyone goes through that at some point or points in their life. It doesn't help that the media refers to things from 10 years ago as retro. I totally freaked out when I turned 25. Just remember that the best is yet to come.
Of course, I may need you to remind me of this post when I turn 30 next year. |

Wait until you hit 40. I really never got down about by age until I was 35. I agree with Allison though because it seems like a lot of the things I used to do happened a lifetime ago. I look at old pictures of me and I wonder who is that kid?

I know what you mean, Allison. When I think back on high school and grade school sometimes it feels like it all just happened yesterday where as other times it seems like it was a different life. And you're right, it is freaky.

I always say that I miss the early 90s cause it was the best period of dance/club music ever, and then it dawns on me that it was sooo long ago. Even since moving to this state, I was thinking about when I was a kid, the friends I knew, the things I did, and it seems so weird that it was so long ago. But at the same time, it feels like it was just yesterday I jumped off a tree and almost killed myself, fell off my bike and almost killed myself, almost got ran over by a train and was killed. I lived life on the edge.

I know how you guys feel. I'll be 34 this year and it seems like the time just flew by. Last week I was looking through some of my old elementary school yearbooks. These things are over 25 years old and it really felt weird because while I was looking at them I kept thinking that my neice and nephew who are both 20 now weren't even born yet and now they both have kids of their own.

Eh. Just look at it as turning 29 years and 365 days old. Age is just a #.
(yeah, yeah. This is probably easy for a 21 year-old to say, I know) |

I'm 18, envy me, haha.
![]() Actually, even though I'm young and years and years off being 30, or whatever, I have to agree that time goes fast. I'm almost 19...and it doesn't feel like I've been 18 for very long. Whats a year anymore!? The months just pass by like minutes in a day. Scary. |
