Default Traders Forum

It has been raised to my attention by a few- that some posts that are getting placed in the Traders Forum might be better suited for other areas.

I know many enjoy the jokes, here and there- or even the posts regarding brief chit chat-
And that is why there is a chit chat section.

The traders forum should be limited to in example

"looking for
just got in
program questions
good / bad trader questions
rules about trading
advice about trading.

I am not saying each and every post needs to be strictly about trading
but the majority should be if possible.

Default I was thinking

I was thinking....

any anyone feel free to give me feedback here-
Of requesting one other subcatagory.
There is Traders ARchive
And Traders Feedback

Lets face it, most of traders, talk to each other- and we trade so often - more times then not a friendship developes.

I was wondering if a subcatagory lets say TRADERS Chat
Or TRADERS WATER COOLER
might compromise both ideas.

We as traders, can still come to THIS particular board, where we do what we do
But those who wanted to, could pop onto the chat, or water cooler forum and read harveys great jokers, or the "trader interest, but not TRADE related items.

Any thoughts?

Default Gosh, that sounds like an outstanding idea!

At least IMHO. People could talk about off-topic stuff like who's got what, and which sets are rumored to be released soon on factory DVDs, and which traders are reliable and what the quality of available sets is, in the Traders Water Cooler. Meanwhile, the main trading forum could stay focused on "shows wanted" and "shows I have for trade." Which is really what the trading forum should be about.

Default Personally

I like the other stuff

the contests

the WORST AND BEST discussions

lilhave and his humor (which is sorely missing this morning)

somedays the board is just dead, and there is nothing new that anyone has gotten in to post

so the other areas keep interest going on the trading post until something new arrives!

Since I'm the one who posted the jokes daily, please allow me to express my feelings. You purchase a certain paper because of some aspect. Could be the editorials, the funnies, the sport section, entertainment section, or the advice columns. Of course it also contains weather, travel news etc. All the publisher cares is that you buy if for some reason. Here you don't buy, just become a member and you choose what you want to read or not read. Unlike a record club which tells how much you must buy per year to continue your membership, on the sitcom board you never have to read one post. Look at the threads, some get more views, and in some cases many more views then others. You look at the subject line and decide to read it or not.

When I offer a joke, it's simple to look at the subject line, decide if you want to smile or not. If not I'm not offended, skip past it and read what ever is your choosing, but for some, you are deciding for the membership none should see the jokes because you have made a decision on what the content should be. I have had quite a few private emails from folks telling me they liked them, passed them on to friends, neighbors, relatives and co-workers. Sorry but I abide by the wishes of a few and I will refrain from posting what I consider good humor.

I liked the jokes- I think we all need a little more humor in our lives. Harvey's jokes will be missed. Thanks Harvey for the all the laughs your posts gave me.

I think it's a sad state of affairs when someone is miffed because of jokes being posted daily. It's easy for someone with an IQ higher than room temperature to figure out which threads are contests (IE, those having the word 'contest' in the subject line) and Harvey's jokes (normally any thread started by Harvey). If they bother someone so much, don't read them. Simple as that. I must admit, I've been skipping the contests & jokes lately, due to time. I do not consider it a hardship to skip the threads. And I would never even consider complaining about these items. Geez...

Many boards use 'OT:" to preface the subject line, if the subject is off topic. Perhaps that may be a compromise.

Cool What type of a Bozo...????

Would be bothered by a few jokes????

I mean, if you dont want to read them, DONT READ THEM!

How is it hurting anyone that they are there?

Do these people who report them as Inappropriate have nothing better to do with their lives?

As I said, sometimes noone has anything new in to trade, so the board is slow

Like today--- No posts all day! We could have a few chuckles or we could have a great contest or a cool poll about the hottest tv women of all time.... but today--- nothing....

very sad

I say we start a protest to bring back Harvey and his old jokes!

I also like the "chit-chat" and jokes on the trader's board. It does brighten things up and doesn't seem excessive (except for the rants - I can do without those...). Most people use pretty clear subject headers, and the ISO's and HAVE's are easy to find amongst the other messages.

However, if we really need to restrict things, I would like the Traders Water Cooler idea.

Don't stop the jokes lilhave!!

Default Keep the board the way it is

Count me as another who likes the Jokes, Best of, Worst of and Contests. To echo Lamont's statements it brings some life to the board. I understand moving the good/bad trader post as they can certainly take up 1/2 the page on the board.

However the diferent conversations that occur here on the board are different than other forums and there is friendship relations made here. It is because of these conversations that I believe this board is the one everyone comes to.

I vote leave the jokes and contests on this board don't move it to somewhere that I have to click another selection. I am too lazy.

And SAVE THE PEEPS

how about just let people pick and choose what they would like to read

whats next

theres a special place for each type of post

and you need to look at 14 different areas

no matter what is said, there will always be someone who is got an agenda, or just plain dont like anything

this is a good place to check your political, axes to grind, your holier than the rest of us ideas, the polticaly correct guff, all at the door

no one is getting murdered , mamed, or segregated against, in any of the posts

if they were, lord savage would snip it

enjoy things while your here, its a hobby

there are plenty of places other than here to pitch a fit about abortion, politics, race relations, economy, war, terrorists, etc etc

besides, the jokes were posted by a harmless old man, all he has in life are those jokes and his memories of growing up back in the 1920's

do you really want to take that away from him as well?

You left off Parkinsons, Arthritis, Alzheimers, and the fact I have 12 balloons and 19 stents. It's not easy taking 18 blue pills, 13 yellow, 14 green and 35 pink pills a day, while being color blind. That's part of life when you get past 93. I have one pleasure in life, that's when my wife takes me off life support and that's posting a joke. My only other pleasure is looking at the porn dvds Lamont sends me and watching the sheet go up and down.

I think the jokes and an occasional off-topic threads are ok, if they are kept to a minimum. Maybe a solution would be to post everything in one single joke thread instead of creating a new one every time. If you've visited the main Chit Chat area, you'll see there is one thread for complaints and another for good news.

I know a lot of you just visit this one Trading Post board and that's fine.. but there are many other boards here that I would encourage you to visit and post on. Some of you don't seem to venture off here very often. I've tried chit chat sub-forums on other boards here in the past, and then every board wanted their own off-topic forum, and I've said no. It's easier to just to have one main Chit Chat forum here that has sub-forums for Games, Movies, Music, Sports and Politics.

I know the Traders community is a close one for the most part. It's like it's own little group. I would love to see more you visit and post on other boards and discuss the many shows you've collected.
