You're a 90's kid if:
You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air" You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died. You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House" You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons. You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school. You remember reading "Goosebumps" You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off" You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf. You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!" You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school. You danced to "wannabe" by the Spice Girls, Females: had a new motto, Males: got a whole lot gay-er. (so tell me what you want, what you really really want.) You remember the craze then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not... Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? was both a game and a TV game show. Captain Planet. You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the red* Ranger were meant to be together. All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.(pencils.notebooks.binders.etc.) You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out. You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes. You remember a time before the WB. You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" You know the Macarena by heart. "Talk to the hand" ... enough said You thought Brain woud finally take over the world You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!" You remember when everyone went slinky crazy. You remember when razor scooters were cool. when we were younger: Before the MySpace frenzy. Before the Internet & text messaging. Before Sidekicks & iPods. Before MIKE JONES Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX. Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night. WHEN LIGHT UP SNEAKERS WERE KOOL When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs. When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing. When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie. When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans. When 2Pac and Biggie where alive. When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever. Way back. Tag. Get Over Here!!!! means something to you. Hide-n-Go Seek at dusk. Red Light, Green Light. Heads Up 7 Up. Playing Kickball & Dodgeball until your porch light came on. Hopskotch. Slip-n-Slides.... now there are just ghetto ones Tree Houses. Hula Hoops. HELLO....HOT WHEELS!!!!! "POWER OF LOVE" BY CELINE DION..ONLY COUPLES COULD SKATE TO THIS. The annoying Nano Pets & Furbies. Running through the sprinklers. That "Little Mermaid" Crying when Mufasa died in the Lion King. Happy Meals where you chose a Barbie or a Hot Wheels car. Getting the privelage to sit in the front seat of the car. Drinking Sqeeze It "Squeeze The Fun Out Of It" CAPRI SUN Watching Saturday Morning Cartoons in your PJ's still wrapped up in your TMNT, Power Rangers, Barbie, Fairy Princess comforter. Where everyone wanted to be in love after watching The Wonder Years. or nick jr. with face gulah gulah island little bear Busy Town under the unbrella tree PEE-WEE'S MOTHER F***ING PLAYHOUSE!!! The Big Comfy Couch Bobby's World!!!! Kool-Aid was the drink of choice. Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school. Class field trips. When Christmas was the most exciting time of year. When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle. When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday. When Toys R Us overuled the mall. Go back to the time when: Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'. Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!' 'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest. Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly'. It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends. Being old referred to anyone over 20. A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery. Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better. Where the best form of protection was "circle circle dot dot now I've got my cootie shot, circle circle square square now I've got it everywhere" It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair. When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever. When Ninja Turtles ruled the world. Before we realized all this would eventually disappear who would have thought youd miss the 90's so much!!!!! |

Half the things on the list are supposed to be 80's items, because they usually took their exit in the early 90's.
You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air" No, and I'm not about to memorize it. Agggghhh! You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died. I was in third grade when both River and Kurt died, fourth when Selena died and I had just started sixth grade when Tupac died. So, yes, I remember when all of them died. You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House" I HATED Blossom and yes..."How rude!" is from Stephanie, but that originated in the 80's. You remember when it was actually worth getting up early on a Saturday to watch cartoons. That went to the wayside in the early 90's. You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school. 80's/early 90's thing. Never got to play Oregon Trail in school. You remember reading Goosebumps. Yesh. I outgrew the books about 12 years ago. You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off." ...And I don't care. You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf. No, and you have got to be kidding me. Why is this on the 90's list...The Smurfs ended in 1990. On the other hand, it ran for NINE SEASONS in the 80's. You've ever ended a sentence with the word "PSYCHE!" Sure, when speaking of Pee Wee's Big Adventure (1985). You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school. Stopped doing that in 1992. You danced to "wannabe" by the Spice Girls, Females: had a new motto, Males: got a whole lot gay-er. (so tell me what you want, what you really really want.) I wanted to shoot the Spice Girls when they were popular. What a lame singing group. You remember the craze then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books. Never did slam books. Slap bracelets, yes. Only wore slap bracelets for a short time in 1992. You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not. Whatever. Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? was both a game and a TV game show. Yes'm. The video game came out in 1985 and the game show, from 1991 to 1996. I only watched the game show until 1993. Nothing to write home about, because both the video game and game show sucked. Captain Planet. That cartoon sucked. You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the red* Ranger were meant to be together. I HATED Power Rangers. Yuck! To the last sentence you said.....hey...Tommy was the green* ranger!!!! I don't care who is who. That show still sucked. *later to be white. Whatever. When playing power rangers with friends you fought over who got to be who............and still all ended up being tommy. Hell ****ing NO. You remember when super nintendo's became popular. Yes, in 1991. I was around then, you know. You remember watching Home Alone and its sequels. You tried to pull the pranks on "intruders." The first movie came out in 1990 and the second in 1992. I saw both in theaters. No, I never tried to pull such a prank. "I've fallen and I can't get up." 1980s, 1980s!!!!! This item shouldn't even be on the list. See here. The line was originally spoken in a television commercial for a medical alarm and protection company called Life Alert, beginning around 1987-1988. Off the list it goes! You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates. I didn't see my first inline skates until about 1993. So, yes, I remember when there were no inline skates. Two words... Trapper Keeper. This can apply to people who grew up in the 1970s and 1980s too. You ever got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide I went on 'em, but never got hurt. Nyah nyah! ![]() You wore socks over leggings scrunched down This is more of a 1980s/very early 90's item. And yes, I did that. "Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack, all dressed in black, black, black, with silver buttons, buttons, buttons, all down her back, back, back" SHE ASKED HER MOTHER MOTHER MOTHER FOR FIFTY CENTS CENTS CENTS TO SEE THE ELEPHANTS PHANTS PHANTS JUMP OVER THE FENCE THE FENCE THE FENCE he jumped so high high high he touched the sky sky sky and he didnt come back back back til the forth of july ly ly he jumped so low ow ow he stubbed his toe toe toe and thats the end end end of the elephants show show show. Huh?????? You remember boomboxes vs CD players. Yes, and both weighed a million pounds. You remember New Kids on The Block when they were cool. NKOTB debuted in 1984 and bowed out in 1994. So, really, they're more of a 1980s thing. Yes, I remember them. You knew all the characters names and their life stories on "Saved By The Bell." And did I ever. ![]() You played and or collected Pogs. I played Pogs, but didn't collect them. That was such a lame fad. You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere. No, thank god. That was another extremely lame-ass fad. You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles. Yes. Might I add that EVERY SINGLE ITEM above debuted in the 1980s? The Care Bears from 1985 to 1988, My Little Pony in 1986 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from 1987 to 1997. With the expection of TMNT, the first two shouldn't even be on the list. I remember them all, and I even had a Care Bears cake for my birthday in 1988. Off the list it goes! NANCY DREW AND THE HARDY BOYS WERE THE BEST MYSTERY BOOKS Never read them and I don't care. Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff! The quality of the pencils and erasers were HORRENDOUS. All your school supplies were Lisa Frank brand. Only in the early 90's. I still have a Lisa Frank binder that's older than a lot of the kids here (circa 1991). You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out. I think everybody does. That was such a lame fad. You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes. Only my lobes, thankyouverymuch. I used to have them, but only in the early 90's. You remember a time before the WB. Yes. You've gotten creeped out by Are You Afraid of the Dark? Haha, nope. You know the Macarena by heart. I think everybody does. That was such a corny dance. I had a T-shirt of that once, where this smiley face would show how to do the macarena. I threw that shirt out, thankfully. ![]() "Talk to the hand" ... enough said. I still do that occasionally. You thought Brian woud finally take over the world. No. I hated that cartoon. You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!" Ah, Pee Wee. That phrase was uttered on his show in the 1980s. Off the list it goes. You remember when everyone went slinky crazy. Everybody does. You remember when Razor Scooters were cool. These scooters sucked. They can't even go over rough surfaces. ![]() Before the MySpace frenzy. WHY IS THIS ITEM ON THIS LIST OMG.Before the Internet & text messaging. Um yes, I do. Before Sidekicks & iPods. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy is this on there...Before MIKE JONES Who the hell is Mike Jones? Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX. .................................................... Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night. I never had THAT much homework. ![]() WHEN LIGHT UP SNEAKERS WERE COOL ..... When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs. Yes. And I remember *GASP!* Betamax! Betcha don't! I also bet you don't even remember 500-pound, top-loading VCRs. They fell to the wayside in 1986. When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing. Yes, and I remember gas cheaper than that. When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie. I still record stuff on my VCR and yes, I remember paying that much to rent a movie. I also betcha don't remember paying $40 or more to purchase a VHS movie. Blank VHS tapes were $20 or more. When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our Walkmans. Never owned a Walkman. When 2Pac and Biggie where alive. ......I have nothing to say to that. Who the hell is 'Biggie'? When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever. Yes, before Michael Jordan retired a zillion times. Way back. Dammit, YES. Tag. Doesn't everybody? Get Over Here!!!! means something to you. No. Hide-n-Go Seek at dusk. Yes. Red Light, Green Light. No. Heads Up 7 Up. No. Playing Kickball & Dodgeball until your porch light came on. No. Hopskotch. Yes. Slip-n-Slides.... now they are just ghetto. Yes...And let's be frank, they sucked. My grandparents made a better Slip 'n' Slide for us kids out of tough plastic. Tree Houses. No. Hula Hoops. Yes, and I was the hula hoop champion of my neighborhood. ![]() HELLO....HOT WHEELS!!!!! Didn't own any, but played with them. "POWER OF LOVE" BY CELINE DION..ONLY COUPLES COULD SKATE TO THIS. Eh? The annoying Nano Pets & Furbies. Too old for both, and they were lame fads. Running through the sprinklers. Yes. I still break out the sprinkler to cool off on a hot day. Little Mermaid. Yes, the movie came out in 1989. Crying when Mufasa died in the Lion King. No, and I hated that movie. Happy Meals where you chose a Barbie or a Hot Wheels car. I wasn't buying Happy Meals by then. Getting the privilege to sit in the front seat of the car. Yes'm, my siblings and I fought over the front seat all the time. Drinking Sqeeze It "Squeeze The Fun Out Of It." That candy was yummy. CAPRI SUN I wasn't allowed to have any as a kid. Watching Saturday Morning Cartoons in your PJ's still wrapped up in your TMNT, Power Rangers, Barbie, Fairy Princess comforter. ...What? No. Hey Arnold, Doug, Rugrats. Too old for all these. I do remember when first-generation Doug debuted in 1991, though. The people born in the 90's remember the second-generation Doug (1996). The original Power Rangers. Yes, and I hated the original. Lame, lame, lame show. Or what about: The Secret Life of Alex Mack. Yes. A friend of mine was an extremely rabid Alex Mack fan. Ren & Stimpy. Yes, and I remember the first generation, thank you. Double Dare. Yes. The first generation debuted in 1986. Betcha don't remember the other versions that followed. Family Double Dare and Super Sloppy Double Dare. Marc Summers was EVERYWHERE in the 80's/early 90's. Family Double Dare. Yup, the child of the first-generation Double Dare. By the way, it debuted in 1989. Rocko's Modern Life. Yes, and let's be honest, Ren & Stimpy was far better. AAAHH!! REAL MONSTERS. Yes. Wild & Crazy Kids. 1990 to 1992, yes. If you were born before 1986, then you DEFINITELY remember when they were still producing WACK episodes. Clarissa Explains it All. Yes, 1991 to 1994. MJH skyrocketed to popularity on that show. I hated everybody in her family. CAMP NOWHERE. Yes, the family movie of the year for 1994. I have the exact same shirt Jonathan Jackson's character wore in that movie. Salute Your Shorts Yes, 1991 to 1992. That show sucked. Are You Afraid of the Dark? Yes, 1992 to 1996. It was an okay show. I preferred Murder, She Wrote over that show. The original cast members of All That. I remember then, but didn't watch All That. SNL was more my thing. Kenan & Kel. Good Burger (welcome to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger. Can I take your order?). Yes, but I didn't care for it. SNL all the way. "CITY GUYS"...ROLLW/ THE CITY GUYS Uh, no. DOUG! That was mentioned before. First-generation owns second-generation. Magic School Bus. LAME! The books were better. MSB did, however, inspire one science class at my school to put on a play when I was in...7th grade? It was a hilarious play. ![]() Nick Arcade. Yup. It only lasted one season -- you're lucky if you remember this. Flash Forward. YES. I was a rabid fan. That show was on from 1995 to 1996, but everybody says otherwise. They're all wrong. ![]() The Adventures of Pete and Pete. Betcha don't know Michelle Trachtenberg was still a newbie to acting when she was part of the cast. And no, I didn't watch P&P. Legends of the Hidden Temple. Yes. Double Dare still pwned Hidden Temple. Hey Dude. Yes. 1989 to 1991. I hated that show. Dinosaurs. It was an okay show. Mummies Alive. Sorry, no, I don't have any recollection. Boy Meets World. Yes. Pinky and the Brain. Animaniacs gave them their start, you know. Sailor Moon. Didn't watch, but I have a friend who ADORES Sailor Moon. Blossom. Yuck...hated that show. Hangin' With Mr. Cooper. Yes. Wishbone. Too old. Bill Nye, the Science Guy. Yes, and I preferred Beakman's World over Bill Nye. They both debuted in 1993, you know. MR ROGERS. No. I didn't watch PBS. Who could forget Snick? Also, Nick @ Nite with Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, The Facts of Life & I Love Lucy. Snick hasn't been on in at least 11 years. I remember N@N a lot earlier than that...They showed Bob Newhart Show, Rhoda, Phyllis and a lot of other great shows. Where everyone wanted to be in love after watching The Wonder Years. TWY is awesome. or nick jr. with face. Too old. Gullah Gullah Island. Too old. Little Bear. Too old. Busy Town. Too old. Under the Umbrella Tree. Too old. PEE-WEE'S PLAYHOUSE!!! Honey, I LOVE Pee Wee's Playhouse. Just ask Vashti. The Big Comfy Couch No, doesn't ring a bell. Bobby's World!!!! Bobby Generic. Dontcha know it's bad for you? I'm giving you a noogie! Kool-Aid was the drink of choice. And hairdye of choice. Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school. Yes'm. Class field trips. Yes'm. When Christmas was the most exciting time of year. Yes'm. When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle. Yes'm. When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday. ![]() When Toys R Us overuled the mall. Didn't have one here, still don't. Go back to the time when: Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'. We never did that. Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!' No. 'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest. Yes. Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly'. I guess. It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends. That was never a problem. Being old referred to anyone over 20. Yes, and I remember when people born in the 1960s were in their 20s. A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery. No. Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better. Yeah. Where the best form of protection was "circle circle dot dot now I've got my cootie shot, circle circle square square now I've got it everywhere" No. It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair. Haha, yes. ![]() When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever. Yes'm. When Ninja Turtles ruled the world. And you know it. Before we realized all this would eventually disappear. I guess. |
