Default Does anyone know why "BONANZA" & "GUNSMOKE"....

....are being released in "best of" sets instead of season sets?

Probably because whoever is releasing them do not feel there is enough interest to merit a full season set.

I think you are right. My grandmom would love to watch the entore season of Gunsmoke or Bonanza on DVD but she wouldn't pay for it. Just watch it on TV LAND like she does now.

there was 20 seasons of Gunsmoke and over 630 episodes of it so that would be a lot of Discs. I got the Gunsmoke best of and it is wonderful they did a great job on it.

How did you get into Gunsmoke? From your Grandparents?

My Grandparents do like it but that's not how I got into it. Its on every weekend for a couple of hours and one weekend last year I started watching it and I liked it a lot. TV Land only shows the last 12 seasons so until I got a Columbia House tape for Christmas last year I never saw one of the episodes from the first few seasons. Then in January I got the DVD and the Chester and Quint episodes are great too.

My Dad is the same way. He watches Gunsmoke and Bonanza everyday, but when I told him about the Gunsmoke set he wasn't interested. I know if I bought the set for him, he might watch a disc once and then it would sit on the TV collecting dust.

Big Valley is being released in seasons.
