No, the show only ran for three years. It didn't run as long as Good Times did but it was still a good show. It is now shown once a day on TV Land. It probably would have ran longer had it not been for the directors and producers trying to take the show in another direction, along with some of the actors trying to put themselves ahead of the show as if the show would not survive without them. I had heard the character Rerun hd caused some problems which is one of the many reasons why the show left the air.

No I always knew it ran for 3 years. I didn't watch it all the time when it was originally on because it was on Thursdays which was Walton's night and since we only had one tv then, I always lost out. I still think the show would have last longer if they hadn't got rid of Mama and took the show into a more adult direction.

Yeah, I always knew that WH lasted only 3 seasons total, even when it ran on air the first time around.
It went into syndication in 1980, and then five years later its "resurrection version show" came to into existence (What's Happening Now!!, of course). Quite interesting indeed. And yes, it is a fact that due to Rerun bringing his real-life personal issues on the job/into the studio, each time (during the airing of WH and WHN), it was always a conflict with the other cast members.
